THC and Morphine plant???

I placed a thread on this earlier and i didnt get many views cuz the title wasnt as interesting or as specific to the thread :p

Hey everyone. i was browsing the canibus forum on BL and came across several threads talkin about pain relief and marijuana...I don't know everything on botany,...but i been working with plants for about 8 years...so i i kno a lil more than basic bontany...

But is it possible to cross a Marijuana strain wit an Opium Poppy? To have a single plant create morphine and THC in a smokable bud? Or is it like trying to cross bread 2 totally different species and there is NO WAY something like this can be achieved? Im sure real scientists or botanists could achieve a marijuana plant that produces a bud containing THC and Morphine. I tried doin some reasearch online to see if anything like this was ever attempted...but no luck. maybe someone can do a better job than i did, and see if they can find scientific facts if this was tried with success or failure.

not possible, the morphine is in the latex that is released from the poppy plant when the immature seed pods are cut, smoking a mature bud of that 'plant' would just be pointless
 
I wonder if one took a fentanyl patch and wrapped it around a branch of a plant that was clost to harvest (a nice sativa, of course), if that would work.
 
This genetic engineering is a slippery slope, why can't you just be satisfied with natural cannabis? Anyway it would probably would just be easier and cheaper to just sprinkle some opium on a bowl, if that is what you really want.

Ya dude they are completely different...Like trying to breed a rhinoceros with a chihuahua and expect the product to not shit in Paris Hiltons purse...Just can't happen for a number of reasons..

The THC is produced on buds of the cannabis plant and don't really look anything like flowers and morphine is a latex produced in unripe flower of Poppy pods...I am pretty They are different genus as well...

if you look at em side by side it doesn't look likely that THC and morphine would come from the same source even if there was some magical way you could interbreed the plants..which there isn't so..
 
Cross breeding needs to be one amogst similar plant familes....Hops, for example, can apparently be grafted onto cannabis but the trichome structure and THC-glands don't make the transfer. To cross breed plants you need them to have the same amount of chromosones. Cannabis and hops are diploids in that they share this trait, but they can't share the reporudctive technique of cannabis plants. Most grafted hops, from what I've read, are both sterile and inactive in regards to THC.

The perfect plant- high DMT content, high THC content, symbiotic psilocybin fungii, diazepam and pure morphine (no thebaine or codeine shite)- someone create it please. Thanks :)

Cannabis/oak trees, in theory thats the best idea I've ever heard. Whos up for raising Jethro Tull from the dead?
