I hardly see any people bitching about them. And excuse anyone who does for being cynical but drug policy in this country is just so incredibly lacking sense.

It is a step in the right direction but still not exactly a well thought out idea. Most of the people i know wouldn't use them for the simple reason that the reason they take the drugs in is to get loaded, they take the gear with them knowing full well there will be dogs & either risk trying to get through or dump before they go in and if i had just spent half a weeks pay on gear odds are i damn well wouldn't be throwing it in no amnesty bin so a pig can have a night out on me after they pocket it, I'd rather stash it and come back for it later. I reckon odds are there would be a sneaky fucking copper watching out for anyone making a b-line for the bin as well, anything for a bust!

I do however support it for the simple fact that it is a step in the right direction.

And also because it take responsibility away from the organizers and makes it a whole lot harder for the government to try and intervene and shut these places down.

Want harm reduction? Get rid of the dogs all together, it will save lives, or decriminalization of MDMA and related substances and have them produced in safe, government controlled labs. It's a win - win situation, we get munted and they get more of our tax dollars to give themselves end of year million dollar bonuses.

Yes they're moving in the right direction, BUT anyone that has bitched about it is very fucking warranted to do so! The amnesty bins won't do a fucking thing and they know it, it's just another knee jerk reaction to a drug related death!

Shame on you for not taking two seconds to actually use your brain. Wake up and smell the roses sunshine, care to enlighten us on how great they will be and how many lives they will save rather than just flaming people for stating what is exactly what will happen?

Or legalise drugs, ensuring that the quality and purity are known due to their production in a lab under sterile conditions.

Or have stupid bins which won't get used by people other than those who see a dog coming for them and use it as an excuse to get out of drugs charges.

Dr. David Caldicott does that already here in Adelaide.

I'm not sure on this, but I believe he told us that you can take him pills in for testing however I don't know about amnesty issues or if the results are open to the public.

I think this will be a good way for the police to get more drugs in their pockets. When drugs are seized in a raid or arrest then it is all recorded and more than 1 cop witnesses how much has been found, what drug it is blah blah.. but if theres a bunch of drugs in a bin and 2 cops emptying this bin willing to keep their mouths shut then im sure half of those drugs will go on record and the rest will be sold or taken. I think these bins are just a new way for cops to get drugs to resell on the streets. They probably even empty the bins multiple times that night and get someone to go out and sell em in the rave/event/whatever.

Im almost certain of this. You cant trust the bastards. Sorry if im being anit-harm reduction here but this is my opinion so dont diss it please.

"Mr O'Callaghan said he believed Western Australia would be the first state in the nation to implement the bins, which would be introduced in March at the Rock It music festival in Joondalup, in Perth's north."

Its not talked about much, but they had 'instant destruction' bins for the Mardi Gras some years back. Acid type solution at the bottom of the bin. Never caught on. Will be interesting to see if this does go national, and just where they intend to place the bins. This is a case of competing priorities - they're either trying to ping drug offenders or they're trying to minimise harm. Unfortunately, in this society, ideal though it would be to ping dealers and let users have a good day, you can't have it both ways.

Not a fan of police then, I shall assume?

Not dissing you, but to assume that the implementation of an amnesty system with the express intention of supplying small quantities of drugs to police, who then have to risk their careers to ingest or offload said drugs, while working, is a pretty substantial stretch.
