It's not. Do you know what will happen if you collapse that vein? The blood can't drain out of your dick properly, so you stay hard. Until you get medical help.
Accidentally poking through and damaging things is going to suck too.
If you don't want to lose your penis, don't inject in that vein.
The femoral is better and safer if you ask me; because you can actually feel the pulse so you know where not to inject, and there's nothing else around that can sustain the kind of damage your dick would from being off by just a tiny bit. The femoral nerve is around there too but I think you'd hit the artery before you'd hit that.

ALTERNATIVE: There's a huge network of tiny veins all over your arms. They're right near the surface; the ones no wider than the needle. Get a 31G short tip needle and very carefully try to hit those. It's very difficult and they blow out quickly, but there's enough of them to put off going for more dangerous places for quite a while.

Well if you collapse your femoral and jugular... then you advance to the dick vein. And by that time you'll probably die soon anyway.
I'm not judging as I am at the femoral/jugular injecting stage myself; just trying to convey just how last last last resort the dick is.

i am so sick of missing shots! i missed a total of 32 fucking bags yesterday and spent over 3 1/2 hours in the bathroom trying to hit. it's fucking insane and a complete waste of time. i've read this post over and over again, and still i'm not having any luck, i can't find the pulse talked about for the femoral veins. i can see the vertical-running veins in my side above my waistline but they aren't surface veins, i can see the blue but can't feel them, how deep are they? can they be hit safely?
If you miss so many shots, then I don't think IV drug use is for you

please, stop what you're doing. you're only going to harm yourself in one way or another before anything good comes of this situation.
like has been stated a million times before, if you're this dire about getting a shot into your femoral vein and have missed 32 bags of dope already, you really need to take a look at where you're at in your life.
i think the negatives far outweigh any positives in your situation.

Mods....why is this post still even available? I know you put a disclaimer on it, but this is a harm reduction site and this post is going to cause nothing but harm. Giving people the idea to shoot in this location is like playing russian roulette.

And do you honestly think if you only tell people something is dangerous and to never do it, they're going to listen? That doesn't work for doing drugs to begin with, it doesn't work for shooting up to begin with, and it doesn't work for femoral injecting. People WILL try to use that vein so harm reduction is telling them that if they are going to attempt it despite extreme danger, there ARE measures that can be taken in the procedure to minimize the chances of hitting the artery or nerve. With all the disclaimers and warnings about how dangerous it is, you really think people who were not considering it suddenly will think it's an acceptable option? Get real.

Thanks for the info, I decided agaist the femoral and managed to find a vein in my ankle, at least I got it in, itches like a mf. Question: I have several "bumps" from misses, mosly on my bicep area, anyone know a method to get these to go away more quickly.

Great guide.
I started shooting in my fem/groin - as it was getting to be a bloody mess trying anywhere else. I figured I would be doing less damage actually hitting my groin, rather than poking myself all over trying to find another vein in my arms/legs/feet and hands.
The problem with groin injecting, imo, is that its just TOO easy. Once you know what your doing, you don't even bother looking for other veins, as the groin will take literally 2 seconds.
Most H users I know use the groin - its very common here in the UK. My local needle exchange have told me they give out MANY,MANY more "groin pins" than regular 1ml's.
The only problem I have had, is when I was lazy and didn't go up and down the fem on both sides - instead I used the exact same spot over and over - and now I have a large lump of scar tissue either side of my bollocks :/

I have been rotating between my bracial vein, all forearm veins; esp. the fat on the runs toward the inner aspect of the arm, or the radius. I truns down to the nook your arm. Both the radial veins, brachial, hand, forarm veins, and my veiny feet are becommin very very difficult to tap.
A brief back ground; Sixe yrs ago i embacked on my frist dilaudid IV, then to oc80, fentanyl, morhpine, cocaine, as well as daily ritilan iv's at 20mg/pin, 4-6x daily.
During the beging of my IV escapades, I was, and still am an avid long distance runner,; however as of late I am finding if very difiicult to tap a vein in my hands, brachial veins, forarms veins, and many time feet/anckle veins.
I used to be a one prick and (nod or kirk out) addict. My veins are very well valcular from running, yet have become quit athersclerotic due to my excessive iv usage. When in a vein I must really exert the BP to get slow flow of blood.
My veins seem taut, and OR docs have not problem AT ALL; yet i have lost the skill or need to adapt my technique.
I use U-100 short(for smaller fore arm vessels) and long version for brachial veins and upper hand veins.
In wrap up, I would greatly appreciate it if you coul help mw out with.

Thanks for the assistance of all my fellow Iv'ing friends with similar problems or at least solutions.. Today, sitting in front of the TV watching a bisexual porn with my girlfriend....I Finally hit that ever elusive femoral(at least in my case).
I still think I'm using too small a gauge pins though, at u100 insulins......i think 28 or 27g. What would you guys suggest for getting back to my brachial, forearm, and feet veins.

I hate that situation theh most. It mostly occurs if im baggin speed, or coke, or really fiending a dope hit. I find it easier in those situations to pop 4mg xannies,wait, then use a superfine pin to hit the little veins on my wrist.

At least in my case the only reason i even go for the femoral from time to time is turns me on when im with my girl, but REALLY, its because of all the scarring else where, and tough times I have registering.

Thank you all for your advice its reassuring to know not every junkie is blindly injecting.If we make the choice to shoot up smoke snort or eat we should know whats up their is such thing as a good junkie. One that takes responsibly for our self's keep it clean use it once and pray we find a new way one day. thank you all greatfully yours a fellow junkie.

This thread helped a FOAF after he found this thread through google! If he didnt read this thread beforehand, he could have hit the artery or nerve, so in the name of harm reduction he thanks bluelight!
Not just the original post but everyones responses (for the most part) are very helpfull, its nice to get a mixed view on harm reduction like you get on BL. There are always the people that say "STOP! GET HELP NOW!!!" and then you get a good mix of people saying "i wouldnt do that, but if you absoultly have to do it this way..."
although about 80% of the time the person asking usually only wants the second of the two responses, its a good thing that people also tell it like it is, cause you never know what text might jump out of the page to an addict and help them change their ways!

^ i used to inject nearly everyday for 2 yrs straight ( i understand that's not a super long time) and never had problems such as these listed above... I'm curious, and sorry am not providing too much useful info here, but to the individuals, esp. ishshoes (32 bags missed in one day?!?!?!?! fuck that's too bad I'm very, very sorry) Do you naturally have hidden veins, or are they just so damaged from use that they went into hiding?
I've fortunately always had bulging veins. When I'd get to the rare point that I'd have to stray from elbow crook, back of forearm, and wrists, I always found a nice vein running up the inside of my ankle bone, similar in size and structure to the wrist (rolls the same way so be cautious). To the folks having trouble, have you tried the ankle? (pretty sure its referred to as posterior arch vein). While this vein usually isn't visible, I could find it simply by feeling it and applying heat, it would then come to surface.
I'd notice when in withdrawal after heavy iv use that my veins would be very sunken and kind of hiding, like "don't fucking come near me!" And tbh I took that as a sign, found a different ROA for a while to keep me high... Obviously missed out on the rush and immediate onset, but hell, sometimes we have to give our poor bodies a rest, people.
