I use a schedule of stopping completely for 4 or 5 days two seperate times a month.

I assess the WD's I feel and my overall attitude each time before I use again.

Again, I am speaking strictly on opiates and Benzo's.

What (If at all) is your plan of action or way of maintaining control?

I myself face this same issue with the benzos i am prescriped. I end up going through almost all of them within the first week and a half, and i have to set up a taper down schedule over the course of the next week just keep the w/ds off, leaving me without my actually much needed medication for another week and a half. Oh to have will power!

Larry David: I was NOT into the last season(s) of Seinfeld. This was because of my community. Citizens were not (imo) able to send off vibes applicable to me. This is in large due to the lack of two-way communication.

Do you know where to shop? Are you allowed to express noun/verb for the same?

thats exactly what i was thinking

i get benzos too man, and i was where you were for a bit, and then i decided i take them as prescribed....dont you think you should do that if you really need them like you said?

i thought about it and went through the same thing, having to go through withdrawals and all that shit just isnt worth it

I pick up my Diazepam, Codeine, Tramadol and Ritalin every day at the local pharmacy except for Fridays when I get 3 days worth. Daily pickups keeps my use under control, otherwise I would binge until my meds are gone. :\ I made this decision together with my GP (read: was forced) because I had a pretty hefty Ritalin addiction at one time, say using 250 mg insufflated daily when I got 50 mg prescribed. Kicking the Ritalin was both physically and psychologically very hard since I fiended that stuff like someone would fiend coke. I took me 8 days of pure hell (restless leg syndrome, sweats, painful muscles and bones etc. I was "kicking the habit" really).

Fast forward 2 months later and I got my prescription for Ritalin back for my ADHD and got a prescription for Diazepam to help me with stopping a 5 year Cannabis habit. I also got prescribed Tramadol and Codeine for my chronic back pain. Needless to say I got hooked on Diazepam even though I tried my best to avoid it, I would take breaks for a few days every week until I got withdrawal symptoms, then I knew that I was hooked without even knowing it. I get 30 mg of Diazepam daily and I have to take at least 20 mg every day so I won't get sick, so when it's weekend I give my Saturday and Sunday doses of Diazepam and Codeine to my mom so I won't slip up...

I still abuse the Ritalin on weekends because I don't drink much or do any other drugs besides psychedelics and prescription pain meds. But I have almost no withdrawals since I don't take them on Saturday & Sunday which seems to work, the cravings are still there though. :(

Basically I have six addictions now: Ritalin, Diazepam, Codeine, Tramadol, Nicotine and Caffeine. Currently I have 10x100 mg Tramadol ER, 10x100 mg Tramadol SR, 10x50 mg Tramadol IR, 18x10 mg Ritalin, 12x20 mg Codeine and 30x5 mg Diazepam in front of me. I got the Tramadol from a good friend and I bought 2 strips of Diazepam off the street, I might even have found a connection for Alprazolam and Clonazepam so I might get some in case I run out of Diazepam, stupid I know but that's all what is available on the streets, I can't even get simple MDMA or LSD, only loads of crack here which I won't touch. My life gets more complicated every day it seems...

This post is more TDS material but I want people to know how hard it can be to keep the addiction away, often you'll realize it only when it's too late. :\

My advice: pick up your meds on a daily basis, IMHO the best way to keep your tolerance at a normal level instead of feeling no effects from 100+ mg of Diazepam like I do... :o

Another long post from me, I had the need to tell my story so if you have read my entire post I thank you for that. :) Good luck to all of you who have the same problem, Benzo addiction isn't fun... :(

Peace o/

I find that with V's, once tolerance is up it aint going back down in a hurry. Unlike Opiates- tolerance for me drops fairly quickly.

What do you gain from this?

It's called drug addiction. All/most us addicts are self destructive in some way with the drugs.

To the OP when I was first prescribed Valium it was for uni (social anxiety). My doc was happy that I used 5 days a week and took a break at the weekend. Unless it was his justification in his head for giving them to me lol.

Go to the gym or get some pussy man, if you are on more days than you are off then you are already addicted pretty badly, no two ways about that. Just set hard limits for yourself, such as "I will not use more than 1/3 of this script this month". Stick to it though, if you cant not use just because the beans are in your possession then its time to accept addiction or work with your doctor for a better script management plan.

And to the person who said all addicts are self destructive, not true. Some people enjoy life as addicts so long as they remain functional with their tolerances in check.

Even if you use them as prescribed, 2-3 times a day after 4 weeks you WILL get addicted to any kind of benzo.

I don't use prescription drugs, but I keep my poppy pod habit "in check" by withdrawing regularly, not because I want to but because I have to to keep the pods effective.

I'll usually dose for a couple days or every other day until I feel that the effects have diminished, then I take a 3 day break and suffer through pain, insomnia, and just generally wanting to die. It's almost worth it just to get high.

I think you will get addicted if you use as prescribed. That's why I take my benzos only if I can't control my anxiety, or recreationally. Maybe about 2x a week, and sometimes give it a few months break

Wow... get an extremely addicting drug to quit a non-addicting drug. Where was your thought process in that one?

Im sorry but I do not understand anything you just wrote other than not liking the last few seasons I wrote ;)

EDIT: ANd have you tried my neew show Curb Your Enthusiasm? It's on HBO. Give it a look. Hopefully you will like me better than George Stanza

i used to basically binge, taper off when the supply dwindled, and then spend the next few days absolutely hating myself as i rode out the dubya dees. (which, btw, i'd like to see a PSA about addiction showing some pillhead stuck on a toilet for hours with a pasty face, groaning and rocking while waiting for the next wave of cramps and explosive shits. heh.) generally i'd wait about a week before picking it up again, although a longer waiting period ensures a better high the next time around. of course, the addiction cycle gets extremely old after a while and you might find yourself in a state of complete self-loathing for even taking the damn things when you know how shitty the withdrawals are going to be as soon as your shit's gone. beware, you might find yourself asking the big ole deep questions before too long. (and who the hell has time for a soul-searching, mind-blowing mental breakdown?) common sense says don't take em that often. oh damn that common sense.
