The travel thread

I only went up for a scout during the day because I'd heard so much about it, seemed a bit rundown and nothing too exciting. If I was a backpacker I don't think I'd like to stay up there, some much nicer looking hostels at the top of George Street (think that's the main street anyway?).

Aye, George and Pitt are the two main streets running from Circular Quay. We lived in Manly for pretty much 6 months, and loved being there. But did lots of partying in Kings Cross, and in a club on Pitt Street (Slime?).

Our hotel was right at the top of George Street, a bit past China town and just beside the Vietnamise quarter.

Dixon Street Foodcourt in China Town is the place to eat!

My girlfriend's mum and stepdad live in Sydney, near Newtown, I remember walking around King's Cross at night with my girlfriend hoping someone would offer to sell me something, but nobody did :( Was much easier finding drugs in Nimbin (which we then took back with us to Sydney :) )

All this talk of Oz is making me wish I was there.

I need to make a concreate decision and get plans in place on whether I want to go to Oz for a longer period of time by myself or have 2 shorter trips abroad (Maybe Cuba / Japan) with my dad. :\

re: Nimbin
I know, it was pretty strange. Got stranger when my girlfriend started whiteying and passing out in this semi-abandoned children's playground after 1 joint while some homeless locals were sitting there watching us :D

Japan will zap your money quick than most places.

Apparently it's not any more expensive than most big cities though? Have you been?

It seems like a fascinating place.

No but one of my best mates is living there at the moment (he's half Japanese). And he says it's fucking expensive!!!

Defo a fascinating place, he's sent loads of good photos.

I won't be visiting until me and little un go on a surf trip there....so it could be a while! :)

I found an empty bottle of Jack D bought at Heathrow duty free in my bags which I have no recollection of drinking...Must have been the benzo's then, trips seem short if you can't remember them lol!

Well I get my car tomorrow and the road is mine again.

Might go for a little drive down to Byron & Nimbin in a week or two. Only 2 hrs drive away. :D

What quantity of benzos did you take? :D

Got my vaccinations and new passport today :D

Wish I had enough money to get pissed on the plane, £5 for singles?
Might just have to take a couple of valiums before I board (leave rest at home) and then buy some in Thailand for way back.

there no free booze on the flight? even my 1 hour to amsterdam had heineken hah

i dunno, i had 2. the flight back from america had unlimited free beer/wine/sprits and was the cheapest flight i could find.

Most scheduled long haul have free booze. The only one i know off hand that doesn't is Continental.
