Not on a train, sadly.
I know very little about this. I'm very interested. If anyone knows anything about it (especially online betting), please share. I'm thinking of trying it sometime after thorough research...

Don't do it.

The vig is ASTRONOMICAL compmared to the vig in other games of skill/chance.

Team sports, poker, blackjack (if you can count well) are all beatable if you're smart and patient.

Horse racing, without an xtcxtc-like behemoth-sized operation, is, sheerly because of this huge vig (17 to 25 percent), almost unbeatable.

In my experience, and in the experience of every single person I've ever known who has done it as a hobby.

Lovelife, aren't some people pretty talented at picking horses or is it pure luck? I thought there was some skill involved.

There's A LOT of skill.

That's not the issue.

The issue is that THE VIG IS 17 to 25 FUCKING PERCENT!

The odds are stacked SOOOOOO heavily against even the best of us.

I learned the hard way.

Whatever you decide, I wish you the best of luck.

More importantly,

HAPPY FUCKING HOLIDAYS!

all of the non-professional betters on horses/doggies I know just make the same bets w/o reading the racing forms. The one that paid off the best was the inside and outside lanes to win and place-- 6 dollar bets over 14 races netted him over 450 in profits. Not bad for a night's work.

I thought you were animal rights? Horse racing is terrible if you're an animal lover. I knew a girl on the equestrian team (they jump fences and shit) who was totally against horce racing. We talked about it in class when a Derby was coming to town.
