Listen, I'm WELL aware of the eclectic taste of our bluelighters, and I, myself, am known to listen to all sound, regardless of genre (although I'm fairly picky).

HOWEVER, I must admit that electronica is, by far, the most incredulous under the influence . Far better than other genres, IMO, and I think there's a lot of agreement here.

It seems to me that the music is accentuated by the repetition in verse and possibly the transitions from verse to verse that is so mesmerizing. It's as if while the given verse is repeating itself, it's becoming increasingly more intense and vitalized. Also, perhaps it's the perfect synchronicity in computer-generated genres..I don't know.

As a musician, I'd be curious as to why you think electronica is so friggin' amazing under the influence.

Go.

I love Trance because of the build-ups and drops...and when there is lyrics, they usually sound heavenly :P

I liked Trance before using any sort of drug as well :D

I agree. I find that dance/trance music does seem to exaggerated the peaks and drops of songs. Which is awesome since on E you're in an excited state to begin with, you hear the musical tension rising....rising....rising....omg it's about to drop.......and BAM it drops and it's a kind of release.

Trance, Psy-trance, Drum & Bass sound absolutely incredible on E. I find that the build up and repetition just slowly adds to the feeling and when the beat drops, its just godly.

Ahh wish I was on some now :)

It's all good on E, but then again nice fast music is good on any stimulant. If were talking other drugs you gotta start looking at other genres.

I couldn't agree more; I didn't start listening to it much until after I started smoking weed. However I enjoy it sober, and I've yet to find a drug under the influence of which I don't enjoy the amazing sounds of electronica.

It's just simply amazing. I'm sure I would love it just as much if I never used drugs. I think it's just the fact that it's fast-paced and has addicting verses and all that.

I can't say that I'm not picky about it, though. There are plenty of horribly made electronic songs that just don't tickle my fancy; this is why I hate it when someone tells me trance/electro is stupid when all they've heard is the crappy side of it...

Also it's kind of like the sounds in electronic music that amaze me. The notes can be as long as you want them to be when making it and pretty much any tone can be acquired. I don't know it's amazing nonetheless.

Electro/trance/house/dance are my absolute fav, all the dj club mixes. I can be having the worst day and wak on a 1 of these genres and it just gets me so pumped up its amazing, ill even start dancing to it without being on it, just gets my whole body moving it feels insane. And when im on it omg, its like an orgasm every song i hear. Love how clear loud and crisp it sounds, makes my whole body energized. Esp love the trance build ups, i bet the massive smile on my face is a gateway to the orgasm im having inside, what would i do without music! I also love mixing music when im on it, can do it so much better but thats also one of my normal hobbies :D

i can listen to progressive house/trance/drum n bass while sober and groove.

i bet some ppl who don't listen to those are like 'wtf is that shit'...but i could care less...i'm too involved in the music to give a damn.

On acid its so grooooovvyyy. Imma try E and acid soon and see how better it can get. Go retardedd

I think electronic music appeals to so many people on drugs for a couple reasons.

One being the atmospheric vibe it gives. It's often upbeat and charged with energy. There's a special synergy that happens while you're under the influence and listening to sounds that relate to how you emotionally feel.

Another is that nearly everyone has come to accept that electronic music really represents the era of designer drugs. There's something pleasing while listening to a track and knowing in the back of your mind that the DJ probably made this music for people that are high out of their minds.

Id be guessing it be like smoking weed while on e. Really feel the music rushing through your body and every bass hit ripple down your spine but only better im guessing. Never tried acid, think id freak out :(

^That's a pretty accurate description of music on acid, as far as psychical feeling goes. The way the music warps and changes and dilates in your mind is another thing altogether, and is far better than the psychical feelings you have described.

Give acid a shot if you want, it's certainly a drug with more to offer than MDMA, IMO.

For me, drugs do little to change my musical tastes. I listen to ~50 percent electronic music to begin with.

Electronic music offers the possibility of creating entirely novel rhythms and timbres, sounds and sequences that would be impossible to play 'live, by hand'. This is why simplistic, formulaic trance is such a tragedy. ;)

Music-directed drugs often lead people to focus on the texture of the timbre and the details of the patterns, rhythmic and melodic. MDMA has the additional property of synergizing with dance, ergo the prominence of 'EDM' among its users.

Trance is very emotional music, with lots of energy. X makes you emotional and gives you energy. Hence they go hand in hand...

I've never heard "incredulous" used in that way...

E and hard trance, houe and electro go wickid. For the psychedelics though the only electronic music I can listen to is psytrance, anything else bores me out of my brain and wastes the trip.

Electronic music is one of my favourite things in life, dont know what id do without it.
