The Recipe Thread (EADD Version)

Was thinking more along the lines of how would you do your stuffed peppers?

Shut up tribal girl! It's a bloody recipe thread and I'm trying to get a recipe so either supply one or GTF!

Just do it how you were going to, i was only messing.

Probs a drop of Wosterchecter sauce, tinned tomatoes, italian herbs, garlic, chilli, topped with cheese.

Finish em under the grill, thats unless you were thinking of putting the lids back on

Just realised if I want stuffed peppers I'll need to head to Tesco and get a pepper! :D

Can't be arsed and it's raining. :|

I wish I lived opposite a 24hr Tesco like my pal in Failsworth does.. at certain times you can get a full chicken for like 9p *jealous*

24hr Tesco is about 5 mins walk from here but I rarely go in at times when likely to get a bargain.

TG'S Vegan Feast Pizza:

You'll need:

* Handful of black pitted olives
* 2 chillies, finely sliced
* 2 cloves of garlic, crushed
* 1 red onion, sliced very finely
* 1 courgette, cut into medium sized slices
* Jar of sundried tomatoes in olive oil
* Jar of roasted red peppers in olive oil
* 4 tsp of dried basil
* 1/2 tsp dried oregano (the good shit)
* 6-7 large tomatoes
* Handful of pumpkin seeds (missing from pic)
* Plain flour (for flouring the surface when rolling out base)
* Olive oil
* Pizza base mix (or if you're too lazy, buy one of those ready made ones from the supermarket)

1) Slice onions and chillies as finely as possible. Heat a frying pan with a little olive oil, add 2 tsp of dried basil, and 1/2 tsp of oregano to the hot oil. Heat for a moment or two, then add the onions (keeping the chilli aside). Once the onion starts to colour add the minced garlic and chilli for a few minutes, then turn off the heat and leave to one side.

2) Boil the kettle and fill a medium saucepan almost to the top with boiling water. Plop your tomatoes in there for a minute or two, then carefully lift them out. Peel off the skin, then dice them as small as you can. Turn the heat on again for onions then add the tomatoes to the frying pan. Set on a moderate heat and leave to bubble away.

TIP: As the tomatoes cook, mash them a little with a fork to help them break down.

3) Step 3 is where I make my base. If you buy the boxed mix, follow the instructions on the pack. I also add 2 tsp of dried basil to the mix too.

4) Slice your courgette into medium slices. Coat them in a little olive oil, add salt and pepper and pop them on a baking tray. Give them 5-6 mins on 200 degrees, turning once. Once cooked removed from oven and set aside.

5) Prepare all your toppings on a plate and wait for the tomato sauce to thicken to a paste.

6) Take your base, spread the tomato sauce over the top, slap toppings on, and whack it in the oven for 20 mins on 200 degrees.

Buon appetito. :)

My base turned out a bit pathetic looking this time, but it still tasted OK. Also, the pumpkin seeds worked well. Cheers Shammy.

That looks wicked. Never made my own pizzas but I'm certainly thinking about it this weekend. Have the house to myself so I can make whatever I want and not have to worry about anyone else liking it or not. Would make a few changes, I'd add some red & green chopped peppers, take out the pumpkin seeds and use fresh herbs. Sounds delicious.

The pizza base mix, what does it involve? Is it just add water type thing?

Also going to make that lovely looking soup you posted a while back this weekend. :)

EDIT: The stuffed pepper was pretty good. Boiled some rice. Heated up the mince and added some tinned tomatos, garlic, worcester sauce, mustard, cayenne and chillis, interspersed with fresh basil, chives, parsley and tarragon and added it to the already roasted red pepper, grated some cheese on the top and back in the oven for another 10 mins.

Basically, yeah. Stick the mix in a bowl, add 6-8 tbs of water, roll out into the size you want, put it on a greased baking tray, cover in cling film, stick in a warm place for 10 mins, then cover with toppings and stick it in the oven.

It's a bit of added effort, but usually it's worth it. I'd make it entirely from scratch, but I haven't got any scales atm, so those little pre-made mixes come in handy.

Well, I hope you enjoy it. Just don't freeze it. :|

Fuck aye I'm making a pizza this weekend!

A pizza, soup and a curry! And a steak in black pepper sauce.
