The Recipe Thread (EADD Version)

As far as I know tribal girl isn't vegan though (I may be wrong) so why deprive yourself of such cheesey lovelyness. You can't have pizza without cheese!

Just back from Tesco with a shit load of ingredients and goodies.

Either homemade pizza tonight or Sag Alhoo (potatoes in pureed spinach curry for the uncultured ;)).

Also bought popadoms, garlic & corrainder naans, mango and mint chutney, the ingredients to make onion chutney and a mixed bag of bajhis / samosas. Indian feast!

You can enjoy vegan food without actually being vegan, you know. 8)

Anyway, I don't like too much cheese on pizzas, it makes me feel sick. Don't knock a cheese-free pizza until you've trie it.

I've tried cheese free pizzas too dry for me.

I picked up a bag of mixed spicey mozzerella and cheddar for my pizza. I think I'm going to use a tin of chopped tomatos for the sauce on the base because not sure I've many tomatos and forgot to buy more at Tesco. Also missed out the sundried toms because they were fairly expensive and the olives because I'm not a fan.

Mines will not be such a feast but shall be tasty I predict.

It's all about the sauce. The longer you cook down your tomatoes, the better it will taste. It has so much flavour, there's absolutely no need for cheese and doesn't turn out dry when you pile it up either IME.

Let your sauce bubble away for 30-60 minutes until it's a thick paste. Nom. :)

60 mins is longer than I'd like it to take. I like quick cooking!

M&S Chinese for me tonight, methinks.

Maybe with some Keema Nan.

And a bottle of Cidre Bouche.

How long did you cook your sauce, and did you use fresh tomatoes?.

I don't think you did, did you Spadey?. ;)

I prefer tinned sometimes for sauces, they have a lot more flavour, still takes ages to cook down to a pizza sauce consistency in my experience though

Yeah, there's nothing wrong with tinned as long as they're sufficiently cooked down .

I just like the feeling of knowing I've gone that little bit extra for it, you know.

do you peel the tomatoes? i can never be bothered going that far heh

I used tinned, only had 4 small 'proper' tomatos in the fridge and tinned definitely seem to have more flavour I agree. Much thicker as well so takes less time to simmer down into a paste. Probably took 30-40 mins. I added some tomato puree as well.

I'm eating the pizza now, it's delicious. :)

Jolly good, Spade.

Yeah, I peel the tomatoes. Just plonk them in some boiling water for a minute or two, take them out, and the skin usually slips off quite easily. :)

I made 2 smaller pizzas, just had one and I'm stuffed so guess the other one will do for later tonight when I come in after a few drinks. :)

Indian feast tomorrow, I cannot wait! :)
