the official 'pets and drugs' thread

Frankly, I'm a little offended you haven't replied to my posts paradoxcycle. And this is what your source defines as "toxic"--

Oh, well you must have missed the study that reported that chronic inhalation of marijuana produced bronchiolitis with the macrophage infiltration in the wall of the terminal air-passages and that can induce pulmonary emphysema.

the conclusion i have drawn from reading this and other threads on the subject is that people who give their animals drugs don't seem to really give a shit about what other people think.

further, they can not or will not believe evidence that suggests what they are doing may be harming their pet. they just blow it off because they know/love/whatever their pet better than anybody.

plus it's cool/chill/funny/whatever... much of what i read suggests they are not doing it for the benefit of their pet but for their own benefit (normally amusement).

Question: Can you make your dog start to roll if there's a bunch of people petting it for hours that are rolling off of a bunch of tabs? Because I swear we accidentally made my friend's Great Dane roll that way. Everyone was putting off really good vibes so the dog was being friendly back, and everyone just kept petting him and he was having a grand time. I was wondering if the E in our sweat made him roll because he vomited while we were all coming down.

feeding my poor old dog some weed

My dog is turning 17 shortly, I really think that he is about to die. He seems like he's in some pain because of arthritus, and we cant afford a vet because college is sucking all our money away.

Any way I was wondering if smearing some bug butter on his snacks would help take away any of his pain at all and help him sleep a litte? He seems a little gone from dementia but it might just be he has to stand there because he's in pain and cant move very well. I dont want to send him off the deep end of dementia, I just want to take away a little of his pain. I have a ton of bud butter left over from last saturday, just wondering everyones opinion of this? Ive never gotten a dog high before.

Lookout... here come the fuckin' hippies! :p
(I can smell the filthy brutes from here.)

If you do give the dog something for his pain, give him very little.

I say go ahead. But you're going to have a lot of people coming in here to cry about how cruel you are for getting a poor defenseless crippled puppy dog CoMpLetElY fUcKz0r3d against his will.

My view. The dog is old. The dog is obviously in pain. I bet the dog has had a pretty good life. I bet the dog could be much happier if he were high. Or he could feel like shit, and go lay down and fall asleep... and you're out some budder.

Does it really fuck dogs up that much? The one time he did get to go to the vet he came back very very fucked up. It was really funny. He has had a good life, I just cant stand to see him like he is now. But then again I dont know how much weed really effects dogs? Will he jump off the couch and plow his head into the floor? Or will he just go to sleep and quite walking around staring at everything. He looks like he's in pain. I just put a little on the end of one of his snacks and gave it to him. I wish I could give him some painkillers or phenobarbital or something

Oh btw I've had him since I was like 2 and Im on break from college and its just really sad. Im not doing anything I think could hurt him. Ill start off really low and see how much he needs. I myself dont like weed that much so its not bothering me any

It doesn't fuck them up that much. But it messes with their balance a lot more than it does people.

And it is bad for them. Though a dog going on 17, I really doubt he'll have any negative effects from a little budder. At least none that he'll notice anymore than all the other aches and pains and stiff joints he's dealin' with already.

He'll just climb up there himself if he wants to. That's what our old dog does. The floor is too hard, and makes his stiff shoulder much worse.

If he's in that much pain, perhaps you should just get him put down? It's not a nice thing to think about - I've had to do it with a couple of pets and it's fucking horrible to think that you're killing them - but if he's in pain and can't walk and is going mad then putting him out of his misery is probably nicer than feeding him drugs. Weed isn't going to fix him.

I know I know this is true. The weed does seem to be helping him though. He's struttin around like he doesn't hurt at all right now. But yeah I need to get him one of those phenobarbital shots. Suposed to be a very humane way to go. I cant imagine shooting him, I would do it before I let him live in too much pain though. I think I may have overplaying it a little bit, he's old and has arthritus and it takes him forever to sit down. Im not acctually sure he's going mad, that may just be all in my mind. But the mary j does seem to be helping him right now. He doesnt seem to high, he is still awake, he IS being more mobile right now I can tell u that haha. Good for him :D

I hate this thread. But i hate the idea of closing it more because then it would be even harder to get the message across that giving drugs to pets is plain wrong :\

If you do this: then you are a sick, sick person :p

I really dont understand the responses that your getting. Its not right to kill the dog. Put it this way, if you could ask him do you think he would say "put me out of my misery!" I didnt think so. I dont even smoke anymore, but if your dog seems to be having positive effects, then keep him high for the rest of his life. Trust me, if animals could knowingly get high-- they would. Horses bite wood to get high. Every animal's basic instinct is to survive and "feel good." Why do you think we get high? Keep your dog happy through the rest of his life. Spend time with him and make sure he handles his terminal illness the way you would-- fucked up and happy.

Yeah your right, fuck those veterarions, they are sick. But yeah Im not going to kill him.

I think pot smoke caused my first cat to get lung cancer when him and I were about 13. I have no proof, but my first cat that is solely mine is drug free, and I wouldn't have her any other way:) .
