I personally wouldn't consider BDSM to be a 'fetish' for me.
You can couple it with sex or you can just do it on its own as an additive and that's how I see it. The arousal is different than being aroused for sex but it's fun getting your endorphins rushing for sex with BDSM.

some of you are confused about the definition of a fetish:

I think I may have an undeveloped voyeurism and exhibitionism fetish somwhere. The idea of being watched turns me on but I'm still waaay too shy for this (sober, that is ;)). Its extremely hot to know someones eyes are on you while you are playing with yourself especially if you dont allow them to touch you. But you could be talking about a third party watching. But I think this is more common then most would admit.

I get into certain aspects of BDSM. Not the extreme stuff.....like I am not trying to have my oxygen supply cut off during an orgasm or anything like that.
Imo the contributing factor that determines how good the sex is all depends on how well the anticipation is built. This begins long before you are even alone together. My sexual nature is the complete opposite of how I am about everything else. I fall into complete submissive for my man. I love to be dominated. Not because I like being controlled but because I want to become vulnerable to only him. Dont even ask me. Just do it.
 
I have a decent amount of fetish experience (anything from BDSM to watersports) but I haven't continued any of them nor sought the fetish out any further than experimentation. it's not really a fetish because it's subconscious, but I have very very mild Vorarephilia

I don't think about it and I think it's super weird, but occasionally I will get turned on by the thought of being eaten alive. For example, if I imagine a giant dinosaur eating me alive I start to get aroused. I don't get turned on by the idea of eating someone else - only something eating me.

It used to be a lot stronger when I was young, before puberty. I used to have nightmares of dinosaurs eating me and I would wake up with a raging boner and be incredibly aroused by the dream (I used to experience sexual arousal like this at age 7, before I even knew what sex was)
