I recently joined a forum about identifying rare vintage marbles and they were also total assholes. Like, "we are the preeminent source of all professional knowledge" type vibe.

I got a few IDs wrong and they just belittle me. Fuckin marble nerds.

the nature of the site tends to make it more friendly and forgiving I think although I have upset a few members lol

If you know what to look for you can turn $5-20 garage/estate sale buys into 10-100x that if you know what to look for.

Its a hobby I randomly picked up after realizing the small coffee tin sized collection of marbles I inherited from my grandfather was worth several hundred dollars. Just 5 of those marbles I sold for $300

People collect old vintage marbles like pokemon cards. Definitely a smaller market, though.

Certain marbles are worth anywhere from $5-20k+. 99% most are worthless or worth just a buck or two.

Idk why but its a catchy hobby. Its basically glass balls instead of cardboard lined with foil.
