My name is Robert Phillips, and I am a researcher in the Department of Anthropology and Sociology at Ball State University in Indiana. I am conducting a study exploring self-reported changes in physical, mental, and spiritual health that people associate with naturalistic psychedelic experiences—that is, experiences outside supervised clinical trials.
The study has been approved by the Ball State University Institutional Review Board (Study No. 1773754-2).
Who can participate?
To be eligible, you must:
Participation begins with a short online screening survey about your experiences with psychedelics. You may also volunteer for an optional interview about your experiences. You may be invited at a later date to complete an online follow-up survey covering similar topics.
We are interested in people's own accounts of their experiences, including whether they associate those experiences with changes in physical health, mental or emotional well-being, or spiritual life. We are not assuming that everyone experiences positive changes.
Participation is voluntary. There is no financial compensation.

The study is open now and will remain open until March 15, 2027.
