Heroin Has anyone had black tar heroin that doesn’t smell like vinegar?

I came across some black tar heroin for sale, finally, amongst the sea of fentanyl. However, it does not have much of an odor; it has virtually no vinegar smell, breaks like shards of glass, is fairly harsh to smoke. Certainly not what I recall heroin from the early 2000’s being like.

It completely substitutes for my 2g/day fent habit so it has to be an opioid. But I’ve never heard of BTH not smelling like vinegar. Is it possible for bth to not smell of vinegar? Perhaps a different chemical was used, replacing the one responsible for the vinegar odor?

It smokes like heroin, cooks down like heroin, and had to be an opioid because i can’t go more than a couple hours without using fentanyl without experiencing severe withdrawal and this tar completely replaced it. It didn’t get me super high like it used to but it certainly replaced the fentanyl for days without experiencing really any withdrawal other than adjusting to a less potent opioid. Also I assume my fentanyl tolerance is at play.

Of note, I have access to 15mg ir morphine tablets and injecting just one tablet (15mg) still produces strong effects to this day so it would stand to reason that heroin would work as well. I’ve often heard fentanyl addicts days heroin won’t work for them, like they don’t get an effect. But if morphine is getting me high there’s no reason heroin shouldn’t.

Acetic anhydride is a crucial part of the process. That's the smell. Tar is inherently impure by definition and should include it. I had a wide variety of tar in the late 00s and early 2010s and if it was ever brittle/hard tar, it certainly wasnt ever "glassy".

It sounds suspicious but no one can tell you what it is until you mail a sample to a chemist.

Your 2g /day fent is cut to dust if you can feel shooting a single 15mg morphine. Which is a good thing, tbh. There are no benefits to swimming in the deep end, only risks. You should definitely get out while you still can

Found this on wiki…
Black tar heroin requires acetic anhydride to acetylate morphine into diacetylmorphine (heroin); without it, the chemical conversion cannot take place. Its characteristic dark, glassy, or sticky appearance comes from crude, incomplete acetylation using acetic anhydride without proper reflux or purification, leaving behind moisture and byproducts like 6-monoacetylmorphine (6-MAM). [1, 2]

It also said that there are other, more crude, chemicals that can take place of acetic anhydride to cause acetylation but result in a less pure product; which, apparently, according to this wiki anyway, can result in a “characteristic glassy appearance”.

I know nobody can ID the substance. I was just curious if there were other ways of producing it that would leave out the vinegar smell because I’ve never encountered any that didn’t have that odor, until now.

If it's replacing a 2g/day fent habit without severe withdrawal, it's definitely an opioid, but the harsh smoke and glassy texture suggest it might be heavily cut or synthesized differently. Since you have access to morphine and it works for you, use that as your baseline. Please test it for fentanyl before using more, and be honest with yourself about the risk here. Your tolerance is high enough that an accidental overdose is a very real possibility.

It’s my belief black tar heroin was/is essentially crude extract/opium morphine that’s acetylated with acetic anhydride. The tarriness comes from the crude extract impurities, and the higher 6-MAM comes from incomplete esterfication as it’s nearly impossible to get a crude extract bone dry before acetylation. That residual water in the crude extract is the culprit to 6-MAM content in BTH.

I’d be shocked to see a sample of BTH that doesn’t have an acetic acid smell as again, purifying it out afterwards is close to impossible. Maybe it was heated to the point most all of it evaporated, hence the glassy look. But I’d more likely think it’s just not legit.
