I was talking with a friend on here about this already.
I wish the "Smoke Shops" had a Kratom type leaf for Benzo addiction. They have 7oh for opiate users, and it sounds like if you had an addiction to Oxy (for example), you can take this 7Oh, and not only will you NOT get sick, but you'll get the relief you were seeking (mentally or physically speaking). Now I hear, there was a time people could order RC here in the states, if ypu knew the right place. Does anyone else wish there was an alternative to benzos? I know I'm not alone in this.

I second this strongly --- screw the leaf imo though let ppl be responsible for they actions.

I dont think smoke shops wanna fck with it do to the addictive properties; which bewilders me as 7-oh, MDPV (the face eating zombie drug), 47780 or w/e ( strong opioid)

If I had connections and a head shop and the money to make things happen ---- no comment

And if they wont listen where the cartels at with benzo powder packs shit is cheap and legal the hell you guys do better lol

Actually on April 1st I guess they rescheduled the main 5 benzos --- one of ya'll should have told me that. THANK YOU OP

Ohhh HEROIN.

...But that's the last thing I'd recommend if you are looking for generic relief of life's troubles, because it's too good at that until it's MORE trouble.

I'm not an expert, but does heroin take away Benzo withdrawal? I was under the impression that H was the alternative for Oxy, percs, etc. (or opiods generalized)? Which is exactly how I got addicted to it back
in 2004. It was cheaper, and easier to find vs OC back in 2004. Another question would be is H even available lile that? Most of it is spiked with fent at this point, at least around me, from what I hear. I know this....I would never try it without testing, if I was still using it. Also, I'm speaking about a LEGAL alternative. Something that hasn't been scheduled yet.

Kava kava can be somewhat a substitute also phenibut but I’ve heard it’s very addictive, Lyrica of course and good ole alcohol.

No opiates nor oids will cure your benzo withdrawal -- may ease the symptoms a bit but different receptors you still worried bout a seizure if you worried bout a seizure.... or w/e extent of wd's (and basically all the heroin is cut with fent unless you personally know otherwise and dont listen to the next person, test for fent, xylazine, and nites *you can test for nites right?*)

Phenibut I do believe has some curative properties for benzo w/d --- I dont think it is stateside? Idk I never ran across it.

In practice Benadryl for BP and of course suck up any benzos you can off the street if there are any AND it is safe to do so --- but phenibut I have heard about many times and is worth looking into

Phenibut...? Kava? Blue lotus and a good passionflower tea can feel like a mg or two of Ativan but nothing like black out bar tarded

It's stateside, not at all suitable for benzo wd due to how fast dependancy forms especially to a be zo.addixt with kindled receptors.

There are alternatives to Benzodiazepines. I'm going to list some things. However, they really are not analogous to your whole Heroin -> Kratom comparison. If you are talking about a person with a Benzodiazepine dependency who experiences withdrawal without them, then that is a difficult problem to solve with the same kind of "ease" of obtaining Kratom/Mitragynine stuff.

Alcohol is obvious. It is not going to substitute 100% like a glove for a person experiencing Benzodiazepine withdrawal, but it will come pretty close. The issue is you have o deal with all of the side effects that come with Alcohol consumption which is a btich if you need to drink a lot to stay straight and you're not used to it/don't have a stomach for it in the first place.

Other GABAergic substances would be your GHB family Gamma-Hydroxybutyrate, 1,4 Butanediol and Gammabutyrolactone (GBL). These are all reasonable substitutes for Benzodiazepine dependence. I doubt anyone would complain much. These are not "easy" to acquire however, so it's not a great addition to this argument.

Gabapentinoids - I know I'm getting far away from the original question. Gabapentin is so ubiquitous at this stage that I have found it being sold in every area I have been to or lived in in the United States. Pregabalin (Lyrica) will have a very similar effect, just more potent. I would say Gabapentin is much easier to acquire in my experience than Benzodiazepines, which I find are really not that common. I'm not out there buying these things, but I talk to people every day and like to stay current.

Gabapentin is not fully-cross tolerant with Benzodiazepines. It is not going to completely relieve a person's withdrawal. Sadly, I only have others' experiences to go off of as I have never used Gabapentin to relieve sedative/hypnotic withdrawal. I have heard people say it helps immensely, but feels as if he itch isn't fully scratched and there is still a sensation of nervous tension even if it is mild. Still, for a person experiencing Benzo withdrawal, who would say no to a significant reduction in symptoms.

If you are not in severe withdrawal or maybe you are almost done with your withdrawal and looking to stay relaxed and not return to Benzodiazepines, there are options.

Kava - I advise everyone with a sedative/hypnotic issue looking for something to take the place of Alcohol to at least give Kava a try. It is not going to take the place of a double shot of Vodka, but its effects are significant. I was an Alcoholic and a Heroin addict, so I'm not some lightweight and I really enjoy Kava.
Mg Glycinate - Helps a lot with the tension in the body that comes from the absence of Benzodiazepines
Magnolia Bark - This is a GABAergic substance. It contains compounds that interact with these receptors in ways similar to Benzodiazepines. Very relaxing and for someone who knows what Benzodiazepines feel like, it is like 25% of that feeling, which is significant for a supplement
Saffron - This substance also contains compounds that work upon the GABA receptors. Saffron is more of a "chronic usage" than the Mag Bark but both can be used chronically
L-Theanine - Amino acid that can help with relaxation, pretty mild.

Some options.

Addendum: I'm sure most people are already familiar. I always bring up Clonidine when people ask about Benzodiazepine alternatives. Again, it's not bought at the corner store, I know. I just want everyone who uses Benzodiazepines to at least give it a try as an anxiolytic. I really feel that a lot of people experiencing stress would be satisfied by Clonidine if they gave it a shot, but that's just my opinion.

Well put, I'd just like to add that anyone who goes the kava route for the first time to.get MICRONIZED NOBLE KAVA ROOT. Its much easier than doing a wash of shells which puts A LOT of people off ime and will give you the best all around vibe of kava as certain traditional nonmicronjzed strains can vary wildly in their effects but I tend to not notice a huge difference between strains when its micronized for whatever reason idk probably just getting sold the same shit with a different strain name probably

Word @Kurt Cobain I didn't know you were a fellow Kava drinker. That's awesome. Now there are two junkboxes in this conversation vouching for this drink, so you know it's not "lame". I'm curious man, where do you buy yours? I won't hijack the thread, but will reiterate that I feel Kava is a great substitute for sedative/hypnotics for those without a huge dependency looking to change, people looking to replace their evening drink with something that doesn't suck etc. It is an underrated plant I feel.

I can source since its legal ya? Fuck it your a mod if someone gets mad just delete it and lmk but I use to use kalmwithkava but theyre so overpriced now that its become more popular so I switched to a small vendor called konakava they have incredibly cheap high quality micromized 8oz bag for use to be 20 bucks now its 30 but still other places charge 50 60 for that amount of micronized and best part, you can get flavor additives like vanilla chocolate and banana, I prefer traditional though just nice to have for those who dont like the taste like my girl 🤙Kava can really make your head spin in a good way people it just requires a little more experimentation with dosages and strains than other drugs/substances typically. If youre a heavy drinker i recommend it to everyone, its a great replacement 👍 as for the benzo peeps it still works great its even euphoric unlike most benzos but it doesn't QUITE scratch the same itch at least for me but im not a gaba guy in general so I use benzos for other purposes ans dont have a habit of taking them but I know plenty of peeps who went from 20+mgs of xanax multiple mgs of etzi and a couple hundred mgs of temazzy who successfully traded their habits for Kava and are better than ever. (Do not go stopping your benzo usage just bc i said this especially if its a heavy habit as while Kava is great it won't keep you put of those wds or out of the danger zone for seizures, Kava is great to cut down your benzo usage or to EVENTUALLY replace benzo usage all together with but you need to detox still) i know most of yall know this but dont want some kid thinking theyre interchangeable and kill himself due to having a seizure from the benzo wd

I was being a bit facetious here. I also misunderstood the post as someone looking for an *alternative* to benzos.

PS if you're not looking for a better way to get high, but merely something that will make you relaxed the same, I will say kava.

Lol i never brought up Heroin as an alternative. Someone else did. I was speaking about a legal substance that isn't regulated here. Hypothetically speaking. 20 years ago I would of been happy to replace my oxy habit with Kratom 70h. Never tried it, but would of saved me thousands, and never had to deal with sketchy dealers. I was simply saying wouldn't it be nice to be able to go to a smoke shop and have an alrernative for benzos. What would that even look like? Probably some RC type thing, but just thoughts of a madman. Talking out loud. I'm sure someone most of thought about this too
