Okay... I am looking for some help/advice... I would like to extract MPH from the concerta (https://www.medicines.org.uk/emc/files/pil.6872.pdf) and obtain a powder of pure MPH. I'm looking for a guide on how to do this correctly. I was told to crush the tablets in a blender and then pour in the IPA. After 30 minutes, pour through a coffee filter and filter again in case of non-clarified liquid. Then, when it is clear, enjoy pouring it onto a plate and heating it by placing the plate on a pot of boiling water so that the liquid from the plate evaporates. Then theoretically there should be a white coating left on the plate, which is pure MPH. Could someone tell me if I understand this correctly? Alternatively, indicate where I could find reliable information on how to carry out this process?

After checking inactive ingredients on RxList-

I’m kinda skeptical about your quoted IPA separation tech, unless the IPA is dried well, these pills contain HPMC (Hypromellose) a semisynthetic polymer that can be a bit of a pain in the ass to work with. HPMC is slightly soluble in hardware store IPA on account of its water content, but insoluble in absolute IPA so you’d need to dry the store-bought stuff or get your hands on anhydrous isopropyl alcohol. This polymer has a critical congealing temperature in the 50°C and 90°C range, therefore you’d need to be careful with heating liquids that contains any trace of water or it’ll gel up.

IPA will get you most of the way but some of the inactives will remain, it all depends on how clean you need the end product?

Here’s the list with some known solubility properties, ??? marks next to remaining adulterants.

• Butylated hydroxytoluene (E321) (Insoluble in Water) (Soluble in Alcohols, Acetone) ???

• Carnauba wax (Insoluble in Water, Alcohols @room temp) (Soluble in warm NP solvents)

• Cellulose acetate (Insoluble in Water, Alcohols) (Soluble in Acetone, NP solvents)

• Hypromellose (Insoluble in dry Alcohols, Acetone, NP solvents) (Soluble in Water <60°C)

• Lactose (Insoluble in ice cold Alcohols) (Slightly Soluble in Water)

• Phosphoric acid (Insoluble in ice cold Acetone, NP solvents) (Soluble in Water, Alcohols) ???

• Poloxamer (Insoluble in Water) (Soluble in Alcohols, Acetone, NP solvents) ???

• Polyethylene glycol (Insoluble in aliphatic hydrocarbons) (Soluble in Water, Alcohols, DCM,) ???

• Polyethylene oxides (Insoluble in dry Alcohols) (Soluble in Water, Acetone)

• Povidone (Insoluble in ice cold Acetone, NP solvents) (Soluble in Water, Alcohols) ???

• Propylene glycol (Insoluble in Petroleum ether/Naphtha) (Soluble in Water, Alcohols, Acetone) ???

• Sodium chloride (Insoluble in dry Alcohols, Acetone, NP solvents) (Soluble in Water)

• Stearic acid (Insoluble in Water) (Soluble in Alcohols, Acetone, NP solvents) ???

• Succinic acid (Insoluble in NP solvents) (Soluble in Water, Alcohols, Acetone) ???

• Synthetic iron oxides (Insoluble in Water, Alcohols, Acetone) (Soluble in Strong Acids)

• Titanium dioxide (Insoluble)

• Triacetin (Soluble in Water, Alcohols, Acetone, NP solents) ???

A few days ago I was doing MPH with Medikinet CR tablets. I used a lot of them (24x10mg) and the theoretical MPH content was high. Medikinet tablets contain such small beads - white immediate release and blue CR action. I ground it in a coffee grinder, put it in a bowl, and then poured a mixture of IPA and water over it (2:1 ratio - 56 ml IPA + 28 ml water). Apparently MPH does not dissolve in alcohol, only in water. I left it for about 30 minutes, stirring occasionally. There was a blue "glut" isolated in the solution, which I removed before filtration. Then I poured the solution into two dishes with coffee filters and obtained a clear liquid. What makes me wonder is that there was some white coating left on the filter and maybe it was undissolved MPH?
Anyway I poured the liquid into a bowl that was sitting on a pot of boiling water - steam heating. At first the IPA evaporated, then the water. I was careful when evaporating the water because at the end of the process such a sticky liquid was created. I poured the liquid onto a plate (some of it had to be mechanically scraped from the bowl). I set the plate with the obtained mass aside to dry for 24 hours. MPH HCL was created on the plate - a brittle crystal, heavy to crush thoroughly with a card. To obtain fine powder, I used hotplate, a well-known method for crushing cocaine. Unfortunately, I didn't notice the effects of this product at all and I suspect the crystals contained too much ritalinic acid. Could the steam temperature have influenced the MPH content?
My goal was to isolate MPH so that it would act like Medikinet IR. If anyone has any sensible ideas on how to do this at home, I would be grateful.
@Docta I used 99% IPA. The 2:1 solution did a very good job of separating the polymer in Medikinet CR. Perhaps with a concetra it won't be so easy
