Can I take MDMA after azithromycin?

I read there are no direct interactions between azithromycin and MDMA, but ChatGPT said it is not safe to take the two together and the risk is significantly increased because apparently azithromycin prolongs your hearts QT interval and MDMA stresses your heart.

Am I safe to take it? I’m planning to take MDMA tomorrow and I last took azithromycin 3 days ago. I feel completely fine, not sick anymore, just worried about getting a heart attack or something. Thanks

Macrolide antibiotics like azithromycin only bump the QT interval up a little bit - like up to around 6 ms - and MDMA itself doesn’t do much to QT either (roughly 5 ms max). So if your baseline QT is normal, you really shouldn’t have any problems with it. There’s this handy tool https://ibogaine.club/qtc-risk-calculator where you can play around with different substances and see how they affect QT (it was made for ibogaine, but it still gives a pretty good idea of the interactions).

Don't get drug advice from ChatGPT.

I looked into it myself. That antibiotic causes negligible CYP inhibition (a lot of other antibiotics do).

If you are healthy and do not have any heart issues, and you plan on taking a reasonable dose of MDMA, I don't see any issues.

It is possible you might experience heart complications. That is probably the main concern here. Are you sure you have real MDMA and not some other drug?

The safest thing to do would be to wait a few more days. But if you are healthy I don't see any major danger here.
