Idk who that is but have fun. I think the sex pistols are coming here, just another thing I never get to do. Already happened at the same place, pil. Didn't get to go.
 
i saw the allman brothers in 2004 and smoked some killer weed from a fat joint and had some great fruit punch with a ton of alcohol in it when i was 18.

my friend and i danced around the lawn of the venue through all the groups of people on the couple hundred foot area of the lawn. it was pretty fun.

i also used to listen to "eat a peach" album, but i normally don't relate to it emotionally at this point in my life. too good of times.... would definitely tune into the allman bros if they played them on the radio still. i actually just went through "eat a peach" on you tube just now and always liked that song with "turned your love my way". i'm googling and i'm pretty sure they used to play that on the radio... eat a peach is a pretty solid album. i like it just as much as i like the grateful dead.

but allman brothers are really good and i like them just as much.


i really like joe cocker's "feeling alright'. i've confused that for allman bros in my past. as a millennial that type of stuff was the play list for all the barbeque parties i went too as a smaller child.. the different generations of people seemed mystical all listening to different types of music... not the same for new generations. everything is mixed together. i don't think age dictates what people are listening to in this time period, not that it entirely did from what i experienced as a millennial, but that's the way i saw it.


"blue sky" by allman brothers should definitely still be played on classic rock radio rotation... i've talked about how i don't like that classic rock is getting mixed with 90's music.

i have a childhood fixation on "blue sky" by allman brothers. i wasn't exposed to a lot of grateful dead as a kid. i'm trying to think of songs that would mean as much to me. i bet people could pick some that they find are just as heartwarming.

I saw the Allman Brothers Band with Duane Allman TWICE - in 1970 and 1971. Never heard of them before the first time I saw them, and that was some show, believe me. They were like a MASSIVE, SUPER POWERED TRAIN. It was amazing. They opened with Don't want you no more. I remember it like it was yesterday. Simply incredible.

Couldn't believe it when we heard Duane had passed.​

didn't see original allmans as i mentioned 2k4, but the song you posted reminds me of the dancing.

Yeah I know it is a clichè: But what does a Deadhead head say when he is not wasted and hears; The Grateful Dead?

^^^can understand not vibing with the dead, but i don't see how a person wouldn't get what other people like about it.

on a different note about this thread, i mentioned that joe cocker reminded me of allman's as a kid.. lynyrd skynyrd is also the same vibe to me. grateful dead is different, but i guess allman's are also considered a jam band even though i'm googling and one of the members claimed to consider themselves "more a band that jams"..... surprised to find out allmans came out before skynyrd though as skynyrd still gets a ton of radio air play..

And I saw Joe Cocker and the Grease Band around that same time. He blew my head off. Seriously.
 
It was a good concert. The venue is in a neighboring town only a few miles from where I live. The venue was a Baptist church 20 years that was converted to a concert hall. The acoustics are phenomenal.
