havent watched the video yet but it just brought to mind a documentary about "elite" students - harvard, yale etc - could no longer read physical books. amazing what is produced at colleges today. to me. do we no longer need books?

I have a theory about this:
Considering books have been around for at least millenia, but also recognizing that people in the past have been reading more than we do now.
Which are both more or less facts.
I'd argue that books are too important for many people, and they are also considerably more simple to produce than any electronics etc. (As long as we don't run out of fiber, which I doubt will ever happen but nowadays really anything seems possible sometimes, still I don't think so).

Anyways, I think that we even enjoy reading books more than digital entertainment.
But it isn't as instant of an enjoyment. It needs some practice.
Reading books is really a kind of chilled out sweet spot of entertainment vs activity, it seems to me.

Most likely we'll go even so far as to ban electronics/social media etc for younger people. Not only to push digital ID etc but also because it is actually kind of detrimental to human abilities. Once that settles in, I think people will start reading more again...

What's the name of the documentary?

Maybe digital ID means age restricted. As in no minors and must be an adult .... and Behave.

Yes, recommend reading ... or a book. Or something healthy too.

If it's life changing sure ... Reading can be good.

Thanx for the Reminders !!!

If illustration is fun. Reading might just be intriguing !!

I used to read most nights now I listen to documentaries on you tube
The only time I really read now is on holiday ,which is a shame

Laziness and bad habits, I have some wonderful books ,2 cases full ,I almost never read fiction as I find it slow to get into
Most of my books are about ancient history ,human evolution and world history

I too was in a reading slump but forced the issue over the last year or so and am now happily reading plenty again - can say with certainty that it's been good for me moodwise and my concentration levels have also recovered after noticeably slipping during the none-reading years. Result.

Yeh it's definitely good for the soul and far more engrossing, I quite often read the same paragraph multiple times especially if it contains something really interesting
