Stimulants New FDA-Approved ADHD Medication Simtriyo (centanafadine) -- an "NDSRI"

A new drug for ADHD has been approved by the FDA that is a three-way norepinephrine, dopamine, and serotonin reuptake inhibitor. A time-released medication available in 140 mg, 210 mg, and 280 mg dosages.

Sounds kind of scary to me, but I hadn't heard even so much as a whisper about this until today. Interesting none-the-less. Perhaps someone smarter than I has something they'd like to add. Some articles are classing it as a non-stimulant medication while the manufacturer and others are calling it a CNS stimulant.

I would imagine an SNDRI would tend to have a stimulating influence.

That's not as good as it sounds.
It won't be as disruptive as SSRIs (which cause serotonergic disruption) but still. The term for that is iatrogenic harm.

Just like existing ADHD stimulant meds, this new one will also exacerbate the underlying issue and likely cause dependency issues.

On the contrary, I thought the serotonin action sounded terrible. Keep your SSRIs out of my speed! Think I'll be sticking with good ol' dex, myself.
