Kratom 7-OH, MGM-15/16, Pseudoindoxyl, Federally Schedule 1 as of 08-05-26

Agreed. I work in the kratom industry and that vast amount of people I come into contact with are fucking total scumbags who want 1 thing. Your money. They do not care about your well being or safety.

Case in point I was working as a chemist for a company setting up a pretty large 7-oh factory (30kg/week) and what happened was this. I was using the synthetic oxone route which very simple, quick, and safe as long as you have good ventilation/no sparks. It provides a very consistent but medium yield of 50% at 63% purity. I'm pretty sure the main impurity was a heterodimer of mitragynine and a related structure which could have been hydrolyzed back into mitragynine simply refluxing in ethanol and HCL.

Another chemist came in alerted the owners that there was another synthetic route utilizing PIFA (Phenyliodine bis(trifluoroacetate) in acetonitrile (so toxic) which had a higher yield of 75-80% typically but creates a very nasty carcinogen called iodobenzene. I knew this way ahead of time. Due to this, in mid construction of the lab, I was fired (I also had issues with the owners cuz they were scumbags), they poached the team I had recruited, tore down what we had built and switched to the PIFA route spending several hundred thousand in the process. Well it turns out the other "chemist" didn't know how to remove iodobenzene in a cost effective manner. It took them several months to develop a process where it was non detect. In that time though, they sold it anyway to keep money flowing.

That's the kind of people that run this industry.

It turns out iodobenzene is unstable in UV 254nm. So the easy solution would have been to just run it through a continous clear line blasting it with UV light. I was tempted to call them and tell them this, but I was very bitter at the other chemist (an ex-rm of mine) and i loved watching him and the company flounder. (Maybe I could be more ethical too I dunno) But I loved watching the company fail, and shortly after they figured it out, the state I live in began to regulate 7, so I was laughing when I watched them spend millions to have to tear everything down and move it to Texas. They were operational for about a year before the federal ban was announced so they prolly made their money back. But last I heard, that company was on the brink of bankruptcy, which I still laugh at today, even right now.

I do believe in karma to an extent.

I do apologize for my role in popularizing the compound and contributing to addiction, but in the moment, I knew other people were gonna do it (probably cutting corners) and I wanted to do it right. That's not the first time I've influenced an entire industry and thus the world, and I doubt it will be my last.
This is great information and yes the kratom extract industry is getting out of control; meanwhile, it will just end up hurting the whole leaf market by default…smfh

I am really indifferent towards making such a drug illegal. I don't think any drug necessarily deserves schedule 1... however, I also firmly believe the 7oh industry has become out of control. I think it may be harming more people than it helps at this point.

As an aside, there's has been a report (on reddit but the author appears sincere) of someone habitually reliant on SR-17018 of all things.

I knew a guy who said he was smoking SR off foul and that it ruined his lungs. I asked him why he is doing g that without any good response smh. Don’t smoke SR or any other RC without knowing g what the consequences are smh…

Well I heard that specific company that switchd to PIFA method just shut down which is probably a good thing. Not sure if it was bankruptcy or they were getting out for fear of doors getting kicked in.. They probably made a boatload of 7 and MGM-15 but I know their overhead was close to half a million/month and when I worked for them they were pretty desperate as CBD and Delta 8 weren't paying the bills.

The company I work with now... the owner decided early on that 7 was going to be trouble and wanted no part of it. STILL, every day she's been getting calls from people who are desperate to get it or the pseudo because they're hooked. Pretty scary moment for some I'd imagine. I hope we don't see an uptick of fentanyl deaths because of it being banned, which I could see happening. Anything is better then fentanyl IMO.

Also some crazy shit is RFK's involvement. He pushed the DEA to schedule it, but check this out. He has ties to owners of kratom leaf companies. So the decision to ban 7 was also partially motivated to push consumers back to companies that have been donating to him.

RFK was a heroin addict previously too…

HMU on the PM’s sometime bc I’ve worked in the vape/smoke shop industry for over fifteen years and I majored in pharmacology too, so I can tell that you know what you’re talking about.

did not know that.

Yeah I come off as arrogant but I've had my finger on the pulse of i guess legal highs industry for a long time. A lot of people follow me on social media for sole purpose of gaining an edge on what's next. Vultures some of them.

We're going to see Suboxone and Methadone clinics completely and utterly inundated, and people moving to heavy street drugs, yeah. I'm on MGM right now which I foolishly got dependent on after saying I would never touch it after my year long affliction with 7OH. I've got enough to taper, and am doing so now, and a ton of SR17018, but man, I really wasn't expecting such quick and harsh action. This is going to be violent for so many people, both opioid naive and otherwise... if they then move to schedule plain leaf and MIT once and for all, I am cooked. I haven't missed a day in 11 years. I vowed to never go back on Suboxone, but man, I may have to and look into Sublocade if I have no other options.

You guys notice with this world lately everything moves so fast. They never give us a moment to just relax. Every minute they are making radical decisions that have profound (usually negative) impacts on peoples lives.

I'm really hoping they come to some last min revelation or realization to what they're doing and they decide to postpone or reschedule because they need more time to research before they make a decission. I've been tapering but also bought a small stock, might place another order.

Yes, and by sending 7-OH straight to Schedule I they are effectively nuking any possibility of clinical research/study. I was watching a video on YT last night about how RFK and the guy who is the CEO of the “Feel Free” bottles who is also a public Senator or something are both behind the 7-OH ban since it directly challenges/competes with their “preferred” product using Mitragynine extract mixed with a little kavalactones…smfh

Seems like your wish was answered.

Yup this is the video I watched last night! RFK and the CEO of the “Feel Free” kratom shot drink are behind the emergency scheduling of 7-OH kratom pills because it threatens their business dealing in standard Kratom leaf extracts. This is all such a charade and it will all come into play on August 6th of this year smh. Markwayne Mullin (Former Senator & Current DHS Secretary) is the CEO of the Feel Free line of kratom shots. Plenty of people online are whining and crying about how they became dependent on this drink because they didn’t know it would be habit forming and the CEO of the company is trying to protect his interests by banning 7-OH federally now with the aid of RFK and Trump by proxy. This is all just a bunch of typical bureaucratic bullshit in order to protect the financial interests of those who are tied to politics in some way.

Hamilton has a pretty extensive post outlining a viable alternative to things like bupe, SR-17018, methadone etc. It's a step beyond "maintenance" since it addresses things on a more fundamental level in a way that bupe/SR-17018/methadone cannot. It's complementary to those items, but the key implication is it resolves things properly (not superficially like bupe/SR/methadone).
