I take 30mg of temazepam every night before bed. I was curious if I can take half the capsule instead of it all. I don't want to bring this up to my doctor, until I know that it works successfully. Otherwise he'll be quick to prescribe less.

if you've been taking 30mg daily for a long time reducing by 50% in 1 step might be a bit too much, you may get withdrawal effects. Less an issue if it's occasional usage

I was using temazepam for sleep, but stopped because I was worried about links to dementia. I now use melatonin and find it works just as well. But it’s not on the PBS, so beware of the extra cost if you decide to try it
