If someone else posted a thread on this my bad. As of July 1st 2026, the DEA has announced their intent to place 7-OH-Mitragynine, Mitragynine Pseudoindoxyl, MGM-15, and MGM-16 into emergency schedule 1 federally, across the board. This makes it illegal in all states and territories in the USA.
This puts it into the same category as heroin, cocaine, LSD, and other compounds deemed no medical value with high potential for abuse. I disagree that it has no medical value, but after being in the kratom industry, I would agree that it has a huge potential for abuse. I knew this was coming a long time ago, but threads like "Can I shoot 7-OH?" were a pretty clear warning that people were using it in a way thats not medicinal.

I guess stock up if it's your thing.

We are living through the anti-fun times era. Won't last forever but these things sometimes (usually) take decades to swing the other way. Bummer.

why not instead of criminalizing drugs and arresting users give them support when it starts to become a problem
It's just not how humans work. Now is the era of punish, ostracize, shame etc. No fun allowed. Again, only upside. Won't last forever. These things are cyclical. We probably need a real calamity. World War, economic collapse etc to trigger the reset. Times are too stable in the West. They may not look stable. But compared to true catastrophe they are.

im not exactly expecting to buy oxy otc at walgreens or anything (though it would be nice :kisswink:)
how about all the shit that grows from the ground, that would be reasonable
and if they dont i will happily turn over my us citizenship and move to amsterdam at 18

Wow, I didn't expect this to happen so quickly. One bad apple really does spoil the whole bunch...

I'm not a fan of the opioid high, but damn, the only "regulated" (and I'm using that term very loosely) painkiller that actually has meaningful analgesic value is going to be gone. My personal favorite use for it was for a splitting headache. Take a low dose and poof, it's gone.

Shame on our government for making SR-17018 Schedule I as well.

This puts it into the same category as heroin, fentanyl, LSD, and other compounds deemed no medical value with high potential for abuse. What even is this science drug??

We extract mitragynine from kratom plant (mitragyna speciosa) which is a weak Mu opioid agonist, then we oxidize it and it becomes more potent than morphine. I'm told it's almost indistinguishable from morphine/heroin in effect but I've not tried either. It's HIGHLY addictive but in so many ways it's safer than traditional opiates as it doesn't affect the respiratory system the same way.

Does anybody have solid documentation that 7-oh just going to be scheduled one controlled substance? Or is all of this here say?

WASHINGTON – Today, the U.S. Drug Enforcement Administration filed its intent to temporarily place 7-hydroxymitagynine (7-OH) and three related substances into Schedule I of the Controlled Substances Act (CSA). Prior to DEA issuing this notice, the Department of Health and Human Services (HHS) confirmed synthetic 7-OH, and the three related substances have no accepted medical use and a high potential for abuse.

Two Notices of Intent (NOI) were sent to the Federal Register on Wednesday, July 1, 2026. One NOI addresses 7-OH above a specified threshold. The second NOI addresses moving 7-hydroxymitragynine-related substances (mitragynine pseudoindoxyl, MGM-15, and MGM-16) into Schedule 1 of the CSA.

Once the temporary scheduling orders take effect, the manufacture, distribution, sale, and possession of covered 7-OH substances will become subject to criminal, civil, and administrative provisions of the Controlled Substances Act.

  • The Notice Period: The DEA filed its official Notice of Intent on July 1, 2026. By law, the agency must wait at least 30 days after this notice before issuing the final order.
  • The Final Date: The final temporary scheduling order is scheduled to be published in the Federal Register on or after August 5, 2026, at which point the criminal and civil bans take effect nationwide
