I got pescribed codeine phosphate 30mg for a broken ankle and have been taking 180mg a day for a week, will i get withdrawals? I took it one dose of 6 tablets instead of splitting throughout the day. The recreational effects have definitely lessened in the last 2 days but still mildly enjoyable. Is there anything i should do to prevent a withdrawal? Peace

This is a tough one because I'm thinking after 1 week it may be better to just stop than taper. Hope someone else provides feedback.

you can leave codeine cold turkey, the withdrawal is not severe, u can even sleep in codeine withdrawal, just minor bad dreams thats all.

100%. This is not even a question. OP, it's obvious you have a propensity to abusing things given your post and if you're worried about a week of mild codeine use you don't even want to know what awaits you down the road if you continue using opiates. Stop now. Don't look back. Next time take Tylenol.

No you wont get wd's that quick. I took codeine for a long time before i got addicted to opiates and never devoloped a habit at all. A opiate habit really takes months anyway

I dunno man. I was that way, but then again, I've also seen people go down the rabbit hole FAST. Like, from 0 to snorting whole 80s in a few weeks (I'm showing my age on this one). With some people it takes time, other people leap off that bridge like their life depends on it, ironically.

Ya but theres a difference between wanting it and being addicted to it. When i was addicted i could not function without it. Just wanting it is different

just really depends on how physically active you were while you were using. codeine withdrawals are pretty mild for a lot of us but to a newbie it can be a pain in the ass. If you have trouble with sleep i would suggest benadryl or unisom sleep tabs

Thank you all for the replies i really appreciate it, im in my first day of no codeine now and feel fine really just abit tired. Its so sneaky how addictive opiates are im actually shocked. I was having it after work with some ipas and getting a great hit, god knows how bad it could get with harder stuff as @Thejackal5654 said. I should probably stay away from codeine as my mind and body seem to really like it and i would probably favour it over other recreational drugs in some ways.
