The biggest glaring flaw(s) of the forums is the fact that BL is shadow banned on Google search, which is compounded by the horrendous in-house search function.

This site is an entire database of knowledge, questions and answers... but it can be surprisingly difficult to access pertinent posts and threads.

I know this isn't the easiest fix, but I think it is a major flaw preventing people from efficiently accessing what BL has to offer.

The best way to search BL is by using commands like site:bluelight.org while using google which has already shadow banned BL. Its just kinda weird.

Maybe XenForo needs to develop an AI search bot or something...

Just a random rant and nothing more than my 2c

if you try to look it up, you'll encounter a few other named companies but, here's the thing, you'll find a Wikipedia, some might say, fuck yeah, they'll read the description and get the creditentials ;)

Google policy implies a lot of over-reaction, over their major platforms, there's other non-drug related cases where google will stop you and some of these, are very righteous in nature. Some of these are here to protect you, the user, but the other half is also this, and you really cannot do anything, even if. Even reddit once toned down the drug talk because of the people's liberty to maybe, express too many ideas at once, sort of. So to say this in a subtle way

Google is the one that says "Go seek professional bla blah..." because here, these drug users will not be of any help. Sometimes both of these methods are very controversial, sometimes while, still as they're, they do their bit, so Y can get the essential out of what's going on up there.

very generally speaking, i find the xenforo (current platform) search much better than the vbulletin (previous platform) search.

that said, my own search issues tend to stem from the fact that the terms i am using are very common.

can you give me a couple of examples of issues you're having?

bluelight staff are all volunteers. i deleted your message which trivializes the issue and wastes our time.

if you have a genuine issue, please follow up here.

thanks.

ya its the ai that does that i think

it grabs the first few "headlines", puts them together and regurgitates. creating more ai generated content which leads to more. usually the headlines are ads but yeah....

google wants to be search, answer and final say. i can only hope it fails miserably.

i use duck duck go and disable ai options. used to use brave now its jumped onboard. trying to find a de-googled phone with no ai at all anywhere.

the journey continues

fwiw i have to type in the same style to get bl to come up in quests and its a hit or miss if i can find it/them.

totally sucks agreed

Any luck in finding the de-googled phone?

actually still looking. seems im not the only one as the options are becoming more and more available.
hoping someone mass markets them so it wont take a genius to use the damn things.
try to de-google my devices and at some point they brick; never fails.
if i find a valid option for me rest assured i will be screaming it from the rooftops of bl. 😁

It's a good reminder that we are now in a better position to request a review from Google on the blacklisting. The idea was to wait a couple of years after the rebranding and new front page, which demonstrates better legitimacy, to do so!

It would have been good if the now deleted user had described in more detail the issues they have with search not finding what they were looking for...

Yeah, you gotta figure it out. Like without reading the directions. It's an electronic hardware device. Lool.

Thank you.

I think @Ki3ly hit the nail on the head, there's a skill to using search, it's often much better to go to the relevant mega thread and look there (though for the big drugs there can be many of these).

otherwise you need to figure out the right language and/or synonyms that best work on the site or with the drug specifically, this can be influenced by drug specific terminology that changes drug to drug i.e. there's a drug specific cultural language at times.

using advanced search sorted by post count is another go to for me especially when searching by title.
