Experiences being immortal should be the easiest thing to do.

christians don't understand that if the bible is actually true, you can be alive forever.

Wouldn’t being alive forever get kinda old after, say, the first sextillion years?

I mean the universe has a finite lifespan so it would get extremely dull once all the lights went out for good.

Sounds more like torture than gift.
Something very close to that was the story arc for one of the Classic Doctor Who Stories

that's a myth with no evidence.

that the universe has an end.

There’s plenty of evidence. Admittedly the precise nature of the end hasn’t been pinned down yet.

I guess a Big Bounce scenario would be the best fit for immortality.

But again, once you’ve witnessed every molecule in the universe in every possible combination for a few googolplex times over, wouldn’t an element of boredom start to flicker?

To attain the level of ignorance that produces a state of bliss one must be void of all knowledge, certainty a concept worth exploring.

They say ignorance is bliss

Or just plain ignorance.

To attain the level of ignorance that produces a state of bliss one must be void of all knowledge, certainty a concept worth exploring.

I mean I could shoot a shitload of speedballs whilst tripping on a thumbprint. I’m pretty childlike in that scenario. But I’m also a drooling moron with little to no understanding of much of anything.

Yet I would still dash my face into a wall repeatedly if this were to continue over octillian years as the bare minimum starter level. Despite how blissful such activities are on a fundamental level.

This is precisely how appealing that eternal life BS sounds to me.

Heaven or Hell? Over truly infinite timescales there is literally no difference.

EDIT: Transcendental peak or ego loss experiences are fundamentally different as they are so very brief. The fleeting nature is precisely the allure.

Question what is a person to do who thinks and sees life differently than the masses? Does this person strive to enlighten others to see as he/she sees or does that person recognize the value of a person regardless if another person agrees or not? I personally do not feel called to change, enlighten or persuade anyone to think as I do.
The fact is everyone has a mind of their own far be it from me to judge or condemn how another person uses their mind. BTW Jeremiah was a bullfrog

The masses are rarely wise so I would generally advise quiet approaches trying to introduce alternative concepts.

Nobody who even approaches anything remotely approximate to genuine wisdom would ever attempt to force their views on others in any kind of forceful manner.

Every individual is unique and must find their own path. One respects the individual no matter what… but can also legitimately loathe obvious grifters (think TV evangelists, “Prosperity Gospel” types an so forth).

There is a distinct difference between alternate worldviews, differing access to educational levels, and straight-up ghouls.

I personally do not feel called to change, enlighten or persuade anyone to think as I do.

I have mixed feelings. My nature is to vigorously debate. Hopefully not to be overly dismissive (I regularly fail at this) but wishing to break patterns. Especially socially damaging forms.

The fact is everyone has a mind of their own far be it from me to judge or condemn how another person uses their mind.

For me, the concern is more about how so many folks’ minds are hijacked by harmful mythology.

Mythologies are great. They can teach us so much about behaviour and psychology - nuances learned over literal millennia - that they should rightfully be respected.

Religion is simply mythology that hasn’t yet given up the ghost. Learn personal growth lessons, don’t get caught up in ridiculous and antiquated stupidities. That way danger lies…

Funny I used the phrase "I personally do not feel called" hmm a leftover phrase from a previous time.

I see you don't get sarcasm

I was speaking in general. AFAIK, you are a believer who doesn’t inflict undue harassment on others. I have zero problem with that ❤️

Perhaps… although, as a Brit, it’s pretty much hardwired in me so I probably do tbh.

I will admit I do have a tendency towards using posts to make a wider point.

No offence intended ❤️
