Not so much a word but a whole concept. Ancient Greek culture had not one but eight words we might term 'love'.
Eros
Philia
Storge
Pragma
Philautia
Agape
Mania
Now consider just how many english terms are derived from that Greek root. But how almost all are used as extremes, not the concept that human experience means we are all subject to all in a moderate way. I use lone-words because sometimes my native tongue simply lacks the word or even the concept. Spanish has a host of terms and phrases concerning the simple act of walking, one assumes because only the wealthy Romans could afford a litter or even a mule so how and why someone walks has a huge range of subtely differing terms and phrases.
