Just a quick one lads.

when you are working out how much does smoking drugs (specifically cannabis, smack and tobacco) affect the metabolism and/or efficiency of workouts cannabis actually motivates me to work out fags obviously are counter productive especially if I smoke one before I go gym but when it comes to heroin i am not sure it goes both ways I can usually motivate myself to do my daily workout routine if I've had smack but if I smoke to much and am just you know proper out of it where I don't wanna get up because of the stomach ache obviously I wont work out then but I find if I just have a bit without taking to much it doesn't seem to make much difference but I do find myself wondering in the back of my head, how much am I losing out by using drugs as you might be able to tell I am trying to be a lot more healthy now and I am happier plus I cant afford to not be in shape.

Anyway I just wanted to know if their is an actual science to this and someone could crunch some facts or maybe someone is in the same position as me?

Thanks.

I can't answer much of your question but the two things that concern me about drugs and working out are 1) do they make me less coordinated and more clumsy such that I could hurt myself. Kinda like how I cut my leg with a power saw and had to get stitches while I was working high. You could do that using weights, too, or a bike.
And 2), if I'm taking something that kills my pain, will I injure myself because I am feeling so good and unaware that I'm overdoing myself. I've done that before and regretted it. Didn't feel the pain. Pain is there to warn you, it serves a purpose even if we hate it.
But good luck with your healthier living plan, great idea!

I can work out on cannabis and do far more push ups.

I actually like to have a spliff before working out kinda like how I used to have one before playing cod when I was a kid cus i made me a better player
My work out days are gone now though unfortunately lol. Got cellulitis and ever since I have bursitis in all of my joints.

That's really your call OP. I'm sure you have a trajectory with your workouts and certain goals that you aim for. If having a spliff before going to the gym is interfering with your motivation, save the spliff for after the workout as a reward. As far as Heroin is concerned, it's a powerful sedative drug. It would be a bit crazy to assume it wouldn't have some kind of effect on your workout.

Tobacco, as you know is not good for your lungs or your body. It will eventually interfere with your ability to workout as it will interfere with your lungs, your heart etc. If you want to keep smoking and want to be healthy, I would consider cutting the tobacco out. I know it's difficult. I'm not one to talk as I'm hauling off a vape as we speak. If working out and physical health are really important to you, then you have to decide how important tobacco and for that matter, Heroin are, as they are the culprits most likely to hold you back.

I have took a break today because I really pushed it 2 days ago with the press ups and leg raises but obviously im still rattling in the mornings but at the same time I feel healthier because of the exercise I just hate the fact that I am addicted because it just feels so counter productive but I guess sometimes we gotta make the best of the situation and stay positive eh Keif?

Although atleast I feel less guilty about smoking the 'plate' when i have been working out. This thread was just me being curious about exactly how much I am negating the benefits of exercising by using these drugs, primarily smack. Thanks for the replies respect.

Gotta have that PMA man, not PMS. Somebody in Bluelight's Merch department should put that on a plaque.

I'll add a few tidbits that crossed my mind since reading this. If you're relatively healthy, young ~35 and under and only smoke a few cigarettes a day, I feel it would be unlikely to have a major impact on your workout in any way. I feel if you were an athlete in a more cardio-demanding sport, as opposed to the more explosive energy of weight-lifting, you would probably experience some drag on your output.

Heroin is not a toxic substance to the body. It is not Alcohol or Cocaine. If your Heroin is free of harmful dilutents/additives and you are not following dangerous and/or unhygienic injection practices, it shouldn't cause any problem whatsoever. If you ask me, the biggest hit to your gains would be due to potential lack of motivation. If that's not the case, no big deal.

Ditto for Cannabis, which is essentially harmless. I've heard a lot of conjecture regarding potential damage from combusted Cannabis to the lungs, but I'm not educated enough on that subject to comment. I can comment on my own personal history. I ride my bike ~20 miles a day between work/errands and I'm often wearing a messenger bag that weighs up to 25lbs when loaded. I also lift weights or if I can't go to the gym I have calisthenics I do as a backup.

I take Methadone, Cannabis, Vyvanse and sometimes Pregabalin/Gabapentin. Out of all days of my life starting from age 14-35 (now) I've taken Opioids and Cannabis 95% of those days.

For the sake of argument, I've gone on drinking binges lasting a couple of weeks that left me so unwell I had to be hospitalized, banana bag and everything, so fucked up I could barely speak and feeling like death. That's what Alcohol can do to me in a single bout of heavy drinking. Maybe that provides some reference.

Luckily, lungs are able to repair themselves in individuals who are young and healthy enough. This has always been an additive tragedy for me when thinking of the people I have lost to Tobacco. An average person can be young and dumb, smoke cigarettes (within reason) for years, but so long as they stop in early-mid middle age, they should be able to regain most of their lung function.

For those who are too young to remember the days of Heroin, there are some important factors to note that help us determine the relative safety of the product. Heroin has been traded/smuggled on likely the same routes that Opium once traveled upon. These routes are established businesses. The economics of Heroin are different than Fentanyl. To be commercially viable, you need a crop of poppy to produce the Opium to refine to the Morphine to acetylate into Heroin. Supply and demand economics make this supply of Opium/Morphine/Heroin more valuable pound for pound to the cartels smuggling the drugs.

These organizations, despite their criminal nature, again, are business enterprises that happen to be illegal and thus can only rely upon violence to litigate in the absence of law. Their Dad smuggled Heroin, his Dad smuggled Heroin, his Dad smuggled Morphine and so on. If we're talking about Corsicans or the N'drangheta it is both:

A. Good business for the Heroin smuggled out of their facilities to be of the utmost purity. To smuggle cut or dilutent makes no sense.

B. For each successive pair of hands that touches the drug, cuts will be made within reason, but it is also in the interest of the dealers to ensure that their users are not killed by dangerous cuts.

Fentanyl changed the economics of the whole stituation and in essence, fucked everything straight to hell. Fentanyl can be made for a fraction of a penny on the dollar relative to finished, pure Heroin. Given that the cartels have access to precursors through China and a relatively safe base of operations, the organization chose to instead just sell as much Fentanyl as they could make, at whatever price they felt like, as any product that came off the shelf would in turn lead to some profit, however small.

You see these videos every day on Youtube "Couple busted with 4 million Fentanyl pills", "man caught with 2 kilograms of Fentanyl and 1 gram of Carfentanil in a hidden compartment". These are just a couple of absolute rando's who happened to get caught. If you have any idea how pure Carfentanil is, you realize that the drugs are now so compact that someone could swallow a single condom of Carfentanil and power a small city for an entire day. Carfentanil is ~5,000x stronger than Heroin for those who don't know.

The long-winded point I intend to arrive at for you is that, compared to the organizations that have chosen to sell the poisonous drugs here in America, the organizations that smuggle Opium and its derivatives are still largely dependent upon quality, non-poisonous drugs winding up in the hands of their users.

Heroin is not a dirty drug in any sense, really. Morphine is not synthesized but extracted/distilled from the plant matter. Furthermore, the Acetic Acid/Acetic Anhydride = Vinegar/"Pure" Vinegar, which is not harmful to ingest.

Opium is not carcinogenic and is not caustic to tissue. Given all of these factors, I think we can reasonably assume that your biggest health issue is the cigarettes. Whatever issues may be caused by chronic Heroin smoking, provided there are no dangerous additives or pathogens (i.e. mold, parasites) in the drugs, then your lungs should be fine following a period of abstinence and continued exercise.
