Misc Best sleep med

I use Seroquel, also known by its generic name quetiapine

I was using ~ Ziprasidone, also known by the brand name Geodon ~ which caused severe pain in the right front part of my brain

The Seroquel works pretty good ~ someone told me about it years ago so I asked for it by name because my healthcare provider like to prescribe abominations that cause suffering instead of just being benevolent

I prefer Cannabis ~ But I would have to grow that and I can't grow in my apartment ~ I eat decarboxylated Cannabis so as to not destroy my lungs by smoking ~ I also do lucid dream work and most Cannabis blocks my dreams ( which is a good thing if you are plagued by nightmares ) ~ but I was growing a really good daytime strain that still allowed me to sleep if I let the trichomes mature ~ and it also made me have good dreams ( that's right a strain the promotes dreaming & blocks nightmares )

I can't take a 100mg tablet of the quetiapine without sleeping 12 to 16 hours ~ and it kicks in pretty much immediately when you take it ~ I have to crush the pill and weigh the powder on digital scales so I don't sleep too long ~ I'm taking about 0.143 grams

the doctor says she has people who take 800 mg ~ they must be dead zombies

i like lucid dreaming and dreaming a lot too but all these sleep drugs ruin it.

especially weed. it reduces the time you spend on REM sleep.

Question for all of you that take prescribed sleep meds. What’s the best one you’ve taken ? I’ve tried several otc meds and a couple prescribed sleep meds trazodone and maybe one other. What’s some recommendations you guys have ?
Halcion.

Antipsychotics should be banned for insomnia.

after researching this and reading this thread i want to try eszopiclone.

i can sleep 6 hours a night unassisted.

but i am addicted to sleep like a drug.

if i could just sleep the entire 14 hours of the day im not working/ commuting - i would do that

this weekend i just slept like 3 days straight and i love it and want to do it all the time for the rest of my life.

i have bezos and opioids and would use them every day for this purpose but dont want another dependency to form.

sounds like eszopiclone isn’t dependency forming and it can make you sleep.

i just have no idea how im going to get it already having a script for benzos and opioids

I know some one whose had a script for this for years & years.

They love it. But I personally didn't like it. The next-day grog was very reminiscent of benzos. It also caused a metallic taste in the mouth (common side effect apparently with this one). I couldn't deal with a side effect like that personally.

But other dude says they're about one of the only drugs that's helped their insomnia.

I believe, despite it saying it's a "non benzo" drug, that it does work similar to one. I believe it effects GABA A. It's another "Z-drug", like Ambien, which obviously also has some interactions with the benzo & gaba-ergic systems.

Low dose Mirtazipine (Remeron) is incredibly good at knocking me out. And fast. Especially if taken sublingual or nasal.

But the next day is usually spent fighting to stay awake for another 24hrs & feeling really, really heavy. So not something I'd want to utilize every day, especially if I got shit to do the next day.

i don’t have insomnia. i just have an addiction to sleeping vs real life. i prefer to be asleep as much of my entire life as possible.

not sure if it will help with that

metallic taste is a side effect to stop a drug?

manc drugs make life and living fucking hell and that ain’t enough of a side effect…i’m sure a metal taste won’t phase me

Clonidine since it has the least side effects and addiction potential, it's relatively weak compared to benzo but it's strong enough to overcome meth.

Preferences I guess.
If you enjoy walking around feeling like you've been sucking on nickels all day, then you do you buddy.

I personally enjoy the taste of my food, not the metal railing pole down the street.

And yes, we're talking about Lunesta here. Not exactly a drug worth "tolerating" weirdo-ass side effects like that. It's not like we're talking about heroin or cocaine here, we're talking about sleeping pills. So I absolutely will not tolerate side effects to drugs I have no interest in even taking. as I have zero need for it. Nor are the mild 'recreational/benzo-like' effects worth it.

I'll take an Ambien if I came across one again, but thankfully I didn't have that problem with Ambien.

buddy? no need to get offended.

i understood, “sleeping” isn’t a typical goal of most ppls drug abuse. so the bar is lowered as to what most ppl would tolerate

side effects are a trade off and if it’s a drug effect they want metallic taste isn’t a terrible one

and i consider my stated goal abuse because as i already said i sleep enough hours normally. this is to sleep 14 hours a day

Eszopiclone is a lot like a benzo without the euphoria. (Before the pedants attack... "without the good feelings" if you want). I'm an old benzo head, so that's good for me for occasional use. I'm not (much) tempted to party on it. It's also easy to get. Docs will prescribe it readily. I could see that if you used it for sleep every night that you could get hooked on it... for sleep.

The ones that don't eliminate REM and make you a zombie with dark eye circles anyways, so none... I used to be anti-melatonin but the 0.3mg capsules are GREAT. I drop into REM despite being on kratom and gabapentin and other substances, and feel WAY more rested. My mind was changed. I don't promote benzos or z-drugs for sleep. Been down those roads too many times.

All I've heard about Belsomra is bad things. Either didn't work at all, or had horrible effects. Typically from Ambien/Lunesta users, not sure about the rest.

The only one I'm aware of is GHB .. or in theory GBL. Not a great drug but it does produce REM sleep.

Why they give it to narcolpetics. I'd not recommend using it as a sedative as it's easy to overdosee and it has a horrible hangover. I sometimes have it around .. but the overdose risk is quite high as there's a good chance you'll be sold GBL as GHB. The problem is that GBL has a horrible nonlinear dose curve that makes it much easier to overdose .. and it's not exactly hard to OD on GHB - particularly if you measure it carelessly while drunk. A couple of times I've been properly floored by it ... even after carefuly starting a 2mg. If anybody is going to try using it for sedation make sure you have a proper 1/.10th mm borosylicate pipette (it melts most plastic) and work your way up to the sedating dose 0.5mg at a time from a dose such as 2mg leaving a few hours between doses (which should be safe on GBL) so you can work out a minimal sleep dose for whatever strength / drug you have. These chemicals will usually be the comon 1mg/ml .. though for street drugs it will be syphoned from stores used as industrial inputs so you can't count on consistent strength or lack of impurities.

I recommend stearing clear though.

Thank you! The withdrawal was indeed horrible. Good on you for keeping it to once a week, try to keep it that way if you can. I got 300mg capsules I think it was. Started off with one or 2 of those a day but tolerance built up very quick so before long I was taking 900-1200mg a day. A pretty insane dose but it was only a month. Still goddamn awful. I actually made it like almost 2 weeks and still felt horrible. Felt like the withdrawal was gonna last forever. I ended up getting a pack of meth. I was still experiencing mood swings and feeling occasionally like I was gonna have a seizure, but I just binged on meth until I made it through. I felt a lot better after a couple of hits so I kept it going. Made it past the withdrawal but made it all the way to being fired from my job lol. All is good now though.

That's an interesting combo. Why mix chamomile? Just for a smoother trip? I wonder if the maoi in changa makes chamomile stronger.
I used to take 4-6 zopiclone every day. The withdrawal was awful (I threw up my methadone 2 days in a row), so I took a handful of valium and just let it wear off. No withdrawal at all via that route provided you can stop taking the valium of course.

I AM BANNED from reddit pyschiatry for that exact opinion on seroquel

"An anti-psychotic is a wild and IMO somewhat wreckless thing to try FIRST on a patient that cannot sleep"

"Are you a doctor or pharmacist, do you understand dosing even"

"Of course I do but you got trazadone, z-drugs, benzo's -- why would you ever start there" (Btw I am not a doctor but im also not above lying to idiots on reddit)

BANNED lol
