Carisoprodol : recreational ?

I had tried Soma carisoprodol several times last year, 4 tablets of 350 mg each AT ONCE. Comparing to its closest counterpart meprobamate, the effect of carisoprodol disappointed me a lot because it was strictly peripheral. I noticed no central effet on the nervous system at all. The result : shivering, lack of coordination of movements, no anxiolytic nor hypnotic action, no euphoria. Conversely, meprobamate, which I tried a few years ago, was very anxiolytic and hypnotic on me. I just can't understand this because meprobamate is virtually the same molecule as carisoprodol.

So yesterday evening I made the following try : one tablet of 350 mg carisoprodol following this schedule :
- T0
- T0 + 30 minutes
- T0 + 60 minutes
- T0 + 90 minutes
- T0 + 120 minutes
Then I went to bed at T0+145 minutes

This makes 1750 mg of carisoprodol (comparing to 2000 mg of meprobamate).

This try worked fairly well : very little shivering and lack of coordination of movements, anxiolytic and hypnotic action, little euphoria.

Conclusion : the difference between carisoprodol and its closest counterpart meprobamate comes from their onset of action, highly much faster with carisoprodol (1.5 h) than it is with meprobamate (3h or more).

Soma isn't really intended to be fun by itself. Where it shines is in combination with opioids, benzos, alcohol and the other usual downers. The "holy trinity" was always good fun (oxycodone, alprazolam, and carisoprodol). Each would compliment the others. The oxycodone gives you the warmth and itchiness, the alprazolam relieves anxiety and the carisoprodol makes both other drugs effects feel stronger and adds a wobbly character to the experience.

Soma/carisoprodol is metabolized into meprobamate in the liver.

I've been taking 1g of carisoprodol every 2-3 days for ~18 months to get high, what I can tell you is that it's not because of the carisoprodol, it's because of the meprobamate.

it takes time for carisoprodol to be converted into meprobamate, and for me it requires other things to get to most out of it and/or potentiate it.

compared to benzo's carisoprodol/meprobamate feels quite mild to me, I'd much rather have an equivalent dose of diazepam as a muscle relaxant versus carisoprodol, and the same is true as an anxiolytic for diazepam v meprobamate, though carisoprodol can do a good job to nod me out for a bit with a beer or 2 (CNS danger).

but don't be fooled though carisoprodol is a sneaky little fucker, you think because you take too much and it's effecicy reduces that it's pointless taking more, stop taking it, and bang meprobamate rebound anxiety hits

Funny, I am trying to think back and remember if I got any fun out of Baclofene with smallish amounts of benzos that I use for sleep. Haven't had anything recreational in over a year, has been very busy at work.
Have any new worthwhile RCs appeared on the gray market? Anyone resurrected Methylone or are we still all waiting on Transcend Therapeutics?

I have a friend, who is a senior executive in a pharmacological industry who recently went to a pharmaceutical fair and told me that everyone was offering him full packets of psychoactive drugs. Just think of postdocs and SEVPs walking around, offering each other handfuls of drugs. Hey dude, 40 years of experience, eh? Try this! )))
My friend was very scornful of me experimenting with RCs in 2010-14 period. How things change!
Frankly, one thing that I would like to try is Quaalude. Fat chance though, unless a day comes when I bring myself to the idea that trying it once is enough of a justification to making it myself. Ah, the freedom that Sasha Shulgin had...

I like soma but I usually mix it with some pregab and/or valium.

It's nice with psychedelics too, tried that on the advice of another bluelighter but it drops off quite abruptly which I don't love when I'm tripping.

yes 1750mg is a lot though OP stated taken over 2 hours so not as bad as it sounds.

taken in 1 go even with my tolerance it would put me to sleep, but I do sometimes redose at +2-3 hours though generally only another 500mg, sometimes up to another 1000mg.

got to be careful with CNS risk here though, especially when mixing with other things
