Shoplifting

Another advantage of Waitrose is the lack of security tags on spirits. Never stole anything, but it avoids the shame when you're buying vodka at 8am and the staff have to take the tag off.

But they still have to verify the purchase on a 'challenge 25' don't they?

Warning to any booze lifters from Aldi. They now sometimes have the security tags hidden under the labels, so they're not immediately obvious (and virtually impossible to remove).

Plus, they don't deactivate them at the checkout, so even when you've actually paid for the stuff, you still get the
Klaxon of shame going off as you exit the store.

Speaking about shoplifting when I was a kid we use to go to the Family Pantry by our house where 2 of us would go in and distract the clerk and one of us would ask to use the restroom and when dude wasn't looking I'd go to the back door and hand our other comrade waiting outside trays of 6 packs of Miller High Life talls. Each tray had 6 6 packs and I'd grab 2 trays and it got to the point we did it so many times I was like we have to figure out something else because he has to have noticed by now. I think I was only like 14.

Dude it's so embarassing buying bottles of booze early in the morning especially in front of the moms who just got done dropping off their kids at school. U feel really proud of yourself when you're like hey I think I went to HS with her. I've had a few times where some smart ass felt the need to make the "it's a little early to start drinking isn't it" right in front of everybody. Not even the clerk just some random asshole who felt the need to say something when nobodies even speaking to the motha fucka. Mind your biz dweeb.

When on the early morning booze run, I usually buy some bread and milk, or even a cheap birthday card, just to make it seem a little less obvious that I'm a raging alcoholic (but I realise it's not fooling anyone, it's just to make me feel a little better).

I've also received comments like "starting early are we?" My usual answers to this are: "no, I've not finished from last night yet", or: "Been on a night shift mate, just going home".

What I'd really like to say is: "Fuck off and mind yer business ya cunt!"

Never shop lifted ,far to scared
I have acquired stuff from work which is just the same as stealing but doesn't feel that way
Corruption starts at the top
Used to get council inspectors round at works container asking "you haven't got half a drum of cable and a few sockets "
Given the chance everyone lines there pockets ,but in different ways

I always avoid going straight to alcohol when I go into my local shop just so I can make sure I dont recognise anyone
I change about shops but the staff all know me I'm sure
I remember picking up 4 beers and some old cunt beside me blurted out " beer on a Tuesday night "
He's lucky I'd just finneshed work and was sober or I would have knocked him out
🤣 na I wouldn't have done that but can't stand nosy cunts

With that tesco self shop you could not scan a few items maybe?
Is it not just a random check by security guard at door ?

What's wrong with beer on a Tuesday night??

Some people...

"Tosses the sand bags over the side and let's the balloon float"
Actually it's not " float but soar"
Perfect way to describe the effects of alcohol even after one sip.

I lied and said it's not for me it's for my mother. On a brighter not I haven't been drinking since Sept, my body thanks me for it.

I’d just reply with something like “I’ve just finished a 14 hour night shift; I’m having a beverage then going to sleep before I start again” with the hope it makes them feel a bit of a cunt.

Failing that tell them your heroin dealer asked you to pick up for him. For maximum shock. 😂

We had a gift shop at a winery, ripped off all the time, personally I want to clip items sometimes but I hate hypocrisy. If I suffered with loss ,I definitely won't continue the cycle .

Used to be my daily grind. Fukkin hated it every single time. It did become insanely casual after a few years, but I never lost the shame and paranoia.

Actually found it got so ingrained I’d still do it from time to time even after leaving “the life”. Not done it at all for years now, but still feel the shame. And perhaps rightfully so :\

I did it for years when I was a heavy user. It's funny how easy it is, all about confidence and acting like you belong. When on stims I'm always over paranoid so not as discreet. But damn these days being mostly sober I see opportunities constantly but it's not worth it.

Tip for those in the States, if you have it shoplift with cash on you. If it looks like a spear of the moment type thing it's just petty theft.

If you go in with no money it's clear you went in with intent and it goes from petty theft to commercial bulglary.

I got arrested shoplifting a bottles of vitamins (was going to return it) in the early 2000's from a drug store. The security guard punched me in the side of the head when I ran. Should have sued lol.

Ended up getting 30 days in county over it. Can't imagine they would give out time like that these days the way everyone gets released so easily.

Like any'naughty' behaviour, it can become addictive, so you find yourself doing it just for the hit of getting away with it, even if you don't have to.

I'm glad I got caught twice without serious repercussions (one RJ, one caution), as it made me rethink my actions. Not took nuffink for years now...
