I don't mean to break any rules so perhaps not best to go into specifics but who here shoplifts or alternatively engages in silly fast money illegal behaviors to support their drug habits

How often do you do it

How do you justify it to yourself

And how often do you get caught or have you already spend time in prison for it??

I’d steal from big retailers all the time if I wasn’t so scared.

I stole a little bit as a kid but never got caught. Still didn’t want to continue and never felt invincible, just tripped me out the whole time.

The paranoia I can’t cope with tbh

Paranoia can save your skin it is very difficult to manage however and is not good for mental health

I never shoplifted in my life really at least in terms of making money for drugs until the last couple of years.

I still get scared every time I go into a shop and I have to check myself to keep my benzo habit down to a only slightly ridiculously high level sometimes a few beers helps.

Irrationalize it by stealing only from Supermarket chains that are insured against stock loss and avoid small mom and pop stores

I know plenty of people who make a lot of money this way however I can only make enough for a hit or two a day not even every day

Wish I had the balls and skills to do it. But having skirted around the heroin scene for decades, I've met master shoplifters. As in you could be standing next to them and not notice a thing. It's like stage magic.

However I'm pretty good as a decoy because security tend to go directly for me!

I don't do shops with security and don't go over 100 euro limit as that is a trip straight to the judge I used to fight the staff if they try to stop me but that was stupid as it got me on the facial recognition software radar a lot faster now after a break I tend to just give the stuff back if I get stopped

Sometimes I wonder why I get so anxious about it at all as all you have to do is give the stuff back and say sorry it really seems silly to be worried about it maybe it is just a survival thing

Also as I'm on methadone and get my benzos from the psychiatrist for a very very reasonable price I don't fear withdrawal so the need to shoplift is lessened quite a bit you could say in fact I don't need to do it at all since the heroin here is quite s*** I really only do it for cocaine on the heroin for the taste in the speedball but I am trying to do drugs less so my shoplifting days are less also I have many ideas for less illegal money making schemes and some ideas that are completely legal

I thought I'd lost my keys in Tesco, so I walked back in with a full bag of shopping. Asked security whether anyone had handed in keys. Big mistake, as back then I didn't get a receipt, conscious of the environmental implication.

Cue security - and two male members of staff - surrounding me, with one of them shouting 'He no pay!' Everyone within earshot was staring.

Luckily a female staff member heard what was going on and printed a back office receipt, so I walked free.

Who the fuck would walk back into the shop with a bagful of stolen goods and speak to security? I put this to them but they insisted on fucking me about.

Keys were in the wrong pocket all along.

I haven't shoplifted since I was a teenager. I'm too paranoid, fuck it.
Last time I did I was 18 and got caught, security found a package of crackers in my pocket. Fucking shop owner made me call my dad and tell him what I had done, and then let me go. Embarrassing...
But I also had a stolen can of sardines in the other pocket they didn't find 🖕

Let that be a lesson to us all.

If you shoplift, not only will you suffer embarrassment and the wrath of your dad, you'll also be left with a can of sardines in your pocket

It’s ok to steal from Waitrose at the minute.

Another advantage of Waitrose is the lack of security tags on spirits. Never stole anything, but it avoids the shame when you're buying vodka at 8am and the staff have to take the tag off.

Reminds me of the time I walked into an Aldi at 7:30am and picked up a bottle of vodka, only to be told "we don't open until 8am sir"

Turns out the doors were only open for the cleaners to do their stuff.

My shame was compounded by sitting in the car park until they opened, then picking up another bottle of vodka :!

I don't give a fuck about that. You can't judge me for buying it at 6am if you're you're selling it at 6am. I don't care if my jeans are on backwards and I'm wearing a string vest., it's fashion.

If there was a good way without getting caught I would absolutely have no problem with it. My friend stole alcohol and that changed my mind he told me youll get caught a 100% theres to many cameras now. I dont get how drug addicts steal now a days for their habit door ring bell cameras everywhere as much as that impulse waves over me I dont act on it because I know I'll go too jail and the judge will force me into programs. Lower impulse criminals dont think about it or they do and use that as a way to get into treatment.
