Help! Possibly returning to DMT but scared off after bad trips - should I combine with MDMA?

I've had some very bad breakthrough experiences on ayahuasca a few years back, but in spite of the extreme difficulty of the experience, I'm conflicted as it was still a mindblowing experience that I want to revisit for closure. Since the bad trips, I've had some light experiences on DMT and salvia, but as soon as the beginnings of ego death emerged, I got scared due to the memories of my previous bad trips; even weed caused negative reexperiences of the former trips.

I now know that I no longer want to do a long trip, but I still want to revisit the breakthrough experience. What I've been contemplating is the combination of MDMA and smoked DMT. I have not tried MDMA yet, but I have heard that this combination takes away the fear associated with plain DMT trips, so it might be a way to confront and overcome the fear associated with my previous bad trips. What do people think of this possibility?

I’ve had very deep experiences with DMT dint want to revisit again , mdma if pure is a bliss euphoria like no other don’t pollute it with DMT better take a benzo.
I must ask a question why DMT and not something else ?

For me the short duration is the thing; I'm interested in the breakthrough experience but the thought of undergoing it for a long duration doesn't appeal to me anymore after those ayahuasca trips.

I would be careful, it still carries risks. Yes it could potentially take away all anxiety and fears, or it could do the opposite. Both have serotonergic action, even though the risk of serotonin syndrome will never be as great as it would be with the 5-meo variants for example, there's still a small possibility of it occurring. Both increase heart rate, blood pressure and hypertension, especially if you're looking for another breakthrough experience, where I assume you will be attempting a rather significant enough dose to achieve that. Given your previous experiences I simply fear you will be entering it with those in the back of your mind somewhere and go through it again

I'd take it easy and reduce the amounts of both to normal or even way below normally suggested dosages. Do it when you're feeling absolute ready as well, set and setting is everything, have someone with you there you can trust and feel completely at ease and comfortable with. And yeah, maybe settle your nerves somewhat with a little alcohol or benzos like @PenguinWithNapalm suggested, but not too much either, lol, don't drink yourself silly that you're so confident and careless and end up dehydrated af, or thinking you're feeling completely anxiety free from some benzos when the anxiety will only really be introduced when you take the combo you wanted.

Most of the times these combos are pretty fucking amazing for the majority of people though. So don't have too much stress about it either, a little anxiety before tripping again is totally normal anyways. Try the mdma on its own first btw, see what it does for you, maybe you won't even need the dmt anymore for that breakthrough you wanted.

@vuo mdma from my experience is more of a stimulant than an agent of calm
also it is slightly psychedelic.
salvia and dmt are fast acting psychedelics so adding mdma to that mix only increases the psychedelic pressure, it does not make the trip easier even if the mdma feel is usually a familiar teddy bear space for your mind.

when you add anything psychedelic to a psychedelic the psychedelic effects are magnified.

some people add weed to lsd because they have calm associations with weed and believe that will soothe them, but then they get too high for their own comfort; for others the psychedelic teddy bear effect of weed works - I think that only works in a small percentage of people.

to use salvia and dmt recreationally you have to titrate up from small doses to find your sweet spot and do not push it beyond that.
if there is no sweet spot for you with those substances just don't fool around with them. Mixing makes no sense to me with these.
