Stimulants Does bupropion (Wellbutrin/Zyban) reduce anhedonia?

I have had anhedonia as part of depression for many years and recently completed a course of rTMS. While the therapy has had a few positive effects, these effects are inconsistent, varying from one day to the next.

I would like to ask people who have tried the stimulating antidepressant bupropion whether they have found any reduction in anhedonia.

Yes bupropion can improve the anhedonic symptoms seen with depression and even SSRI use. It's commonly used as adjunct for this very purpose.

I'd be careful when it comes to Bupropion though, because you don't know how it will effect you. With me it gave me Hallucinations and a horrible feeling for 12 hours.

I have tried bupropion in the form of Zyban, which is marketed here in Australia as a quit-smoking aid. I am interested in going back to bupropion and am hoping that I can use it again in this way. When used in this way I find that it can substitute for other antidepressants including SSRIs and SNRIs.

I have tried it in the form of Zyban, a quit-smoking aid here in Australia. Luckily I haven't found that it can cause me to feel hallucinations and a horrible feeling for 12 hours. I am interested in it because it elevates dopamine and norepinephrine rather than serotonin, as with SSRIs and SNRIs, and I find it a lot more helpful than SSRIs and SNRIs.
