Just want to chime in on a drug none of you will be using, the dissociative anaesthetic memantine that is used worldwide against alzheimers and which has many offlabel benefits, such as soothing deeply autistic "unreachable" children and addition to antipsychotics to diminish the negative symptoms of schizophrenia.

I used it heavily during my pain years, as I rather risked psychological addiction and being a bit wacky because of a dissociative than get a physical opioids addiction with the morphine, fentanyl, buprenorphine and oxycodone they threw at me. (Oxy was the most recreational, hehehe) So I barely took the opioids and instead indulged deep into the memantine to dissociate away from the pain, which worked better than the modest morphine i got.

I rolled that usage back to once every two weeks, with zero fiending.

Memantine is very akin to nitrous oxide, ether and ketamine, except you take 1-2 oral doses and are high all day.

1mg/kg is a good entheogenic level.

What its like though.. You are kinda drunk/nitrous like, not unlike a drunk but lucid, think robowalk. its very "clean", no strong side effects aside from the high.

But the fun part: Its a dissociative, so you are inching closer to loss of consciousness, such as happens with falling asleep. There can be rare but very vivid visual hallucinations of shadows morphing into objects, faces, animals.. good stuff.

What I do: on a day I'm going to get high I prepare by sleeping too little on the night previous, setting the alarm for 3-4h and sticking with it.

If I combine the sleep deprivation with the memantine, there is a tendency to close the eyes, and if you let go, you get gripped by a lucid dream, typically lasting 3-10 seconds.

So you're stoned, you close your eyes and let go, at once your consciousness detaches from your body and you are experientially into a dream, while mentally wide awake, so you know your real life body is on the couch, but the bubble of your consciousness is in the virtual world of dreams, aka the spirit world, your consciousness bubble is independent of your physical body, but you know you're just dissociated from it and can force-open your eyes to get back to reality. Astral projection, if you will.

I am experimenting with having my consciousness bubble go places. Recently I had the amazing experience of my consciousness bubble being inside the wood of my nkondi, so my spirit body was filled with solid wood, it was amazing to experience this, to have my consciousness go outward of a solid physical object - i sensed to be filled with solid wood, the wildest thing ever!

Then after the 3-10 second excursion, i snap back into my body, peacefully sitting back in my couch, i take a minute to process what happened, closing my eyes and zapp! going back in!

I'm still learning how to do this, but the great thing is, my Nkondi and Spirit guide are with me on this and often, with my permission, shape the dream to take me to a place of their choosing to have the educational experience that furthers the process they guide me through, like an immersive virtual reality.

I've been places like the Congolese jungle, meetings with spirits, appearing to random people in a susceptible mindstate, my Spirit Guide who identifies as God says that when I get better we're going to do remote viewing stuff and even, offworld stuff such as moon visits.

Its the realm of dreams so, no dangers of the vacuum of space, the cold or the suns radiation :)

Its really very pleasant combining astral projection practice with a nonoffensive non-moreish dissociative without crazy side effects, discomforts, panic attacks or dangerous confusion of reality and vision, when i open my eyes i'm at once grounded into being high but, not confused or overwhelmed.

I use higher doses than your grandpa but, its good territory you send your relatives with Dementia into, if they got it, see if you can fix that their doctor prescribes them memantine, if they like alcohol it will be something familiar to hold onto as their disease progresses. Many medications are unpleasant, this isn't one.

So, a little glimpse of what its like to combine meditation techniques with a worldwide available medical dissociative prescribed to elders and kids alike.

Astral Projection techniques are taught all over the internet for free and mumbo jumbo aside, its teaching yourself to slip into dreamland without losing consciousness, so no scary spiritual paranoia needed, just developing a physiological skill of your body. This is what shamans do. Dissociatives augment this because they take you closer to dreamland, by aiding the detachment process of your consciousness to your senses, at which point you are a consciousness bubble in the realm of dreams.

It's an odd duck, memantine. I've never tried astral projection, but what I've heard of it does sound like the kind of thing memantine would be condusive to. I've tried it twice, once at a dose I can't recall but I'd say was less than 30mg in combination with methallylescaline. That most noticeably had the effect of making the effects of the MAL feel kinda sinister, in a way that was tolerable but unwelcome. At around 100mg however, I was able to change and manipulate closed eye visuals into fairly distinct images at will- same with auditory distortion of sound from a white noise machine that began sounding like a demonic voice saying something not particularly distinguishible, until I just changed it into something else. Maybe the lucidity of the drug plays a hand in that, I dunno. Stuff takes forever to wear off though and is not really enjoyable imo.

"Sinister" is a great way to put memantine. I personally love the combination of memantine + MDMA + [Insert psychedelic]. DOM, methamphetamine, DOB, LSD, and allylescaline all play quite well with memantine. I refer to memantine + MDMA as "vantaflipping" sometimes because it makes things look like shades of white and black are as terminally bright/dark as they could physically be.

That's got a nice ring to it, "vantaflipping". Maybe something i'd try down the road, depending on how long that stuff keeps. Though I would be worried about Anish Kapoor busting through my front door to take legal action against me.

............................

sorry for not paying more attention to this.
I had to force myself to endure the "Astral Projection" name for the process
I agree with much of the content about how to be aware while dreaming.
I do not however make any distinction between lucid dreaming and being aware while dreaming and going through the richness of limnal spaces which I think the narrator is calling astral projection.
I disagree that the observer is always there, however, since consciousness is active while awake or while dreaming, but not in dreamless sleep which is equivalent to blackout.

i practice lucid dreaming and have also astral projected a few times successfully without drugs. (i believe AP is just a type of lucid dreaming…not actually going outside the body)

i’ll agree that dissociative states and astral projection have a lot of overlap to put it simply.

Astral Pojection, Dreams, Delirium and Psychosis are related. Dissociatives and Flotation Tanks take you to the same places white noise, complete silence and Meditation take you to.

Elon Musk might have once astrally projected himself in my bunker, right when I was tired and confused and not in a state wanting to deal with any of that.

It could be part of why he went so Nazi in the US over EU politics.

I didn't report it here because phrasing it looks like obvious psychosis, which I didn't feel I was having at the time. What to do..

I did unexpectedly have a little psychosis a day or two ago on just a quarter of acid, and not that much of built up sleep deprivation.

Part of contemplation on a project of figuring out who I am, unexpected added some fuel to the fire.

The only material damage seems to be one or two cables and a pair of shiny but crappy headphones, the buying of which I had delegated to AI in the early days.
