El Mencho - head of the CJNG Cartel (most powerful of the Mexican cartels) - is confirmed dead after a Mexican governmental action.

This is huge news in the cartel world. CJNG members are currently running absolute riot across Jalisco and other areas.

Will this mean the end of one of the most violent cartels in Mexico? Or just a rerun of previous cartels splintering after their figureheads were killed or captured?

I strongly suspect the latter, but also strongly suspect the massive power struggle will result in extreme violence across Mexico even by standard cartel standards :\

This is obviously on a much larger scale.

For those that don’t keep up to date with cartel news, it’s hard to overstate just how big of a deal this is.

El Chapo had long been mostly a figurehead when he was captured. El Mencho is a much, much bigger fish. I foresee utter chaos across Mexico tbh :|

El Mencho -- someone mentioned him and I thought they were talking about memo the phantom or w/e....

How long was his reign? I gotta presume longer than the 3 weeks or so I knew he existed lol

seems like you correct

10 years or so. He’s worshipped like a god by his followers. As you can see by the repercussions of taking him out.

Don’t get me wrong, man was an absolute monster responsible for the torture and death of thousands - and that’s without even getting into the drug smuggling and distribution side of things.

There needs to be a smarter response though. Cartels are hydras / cut off one head and several spring up to take its place.

Legalisation is the only practical way forward. Cut out the profit margin entirely and focus all those resources on treatment programmes.

Only sane response to the War On Drugs imo.

Only sane response unless your paycheck depends on any part of the prohibition-industrial complex

Okay so Im just not in the loop anymore haha good i guess. Yea 10 years is not a 2 bit player by any means and I imagine he put in some time before that.

I dont blame ya if ya skipped watching the video but dude says the same thing "We saw this with el chapo, we are seeing it again - they need to just legalize regulate and tax drugs" (Paraphrased)

Yea this just creates a power vacuum and like you said hydra effect. Think theyd realize this by now ... oh yea it makes money and is (SOMEHOW) good PR

I said legalisation not legislation.

Yeah full legalisation would start out rocky as fuck. But the vast majority of people have zero interest in hard drugs.

The vast amounts of money wasted on fighting an unwinnable fight could then be used for treatment programs and drug awareness campaigns.

Mexican cartels only exist because drugs are illegal. For as long as they remain illegal there will be cartels making ever more money, becoming ever more sophisticated, ever better armed, their reach ever deeper into the corridors of political power.

When you can’t win a fight you tap out. Then you rebuild. Smarter.

^Legalize regulate and I guess tax -- but not so high the black market still is competitive

Precisely.

No branding. Only sold at pharmacies or similar licensed premises with medical staff on hand. Priced reasonably. Freely available but in no way encouraged. Lots of awareness programs and even more treatment programs. Controlled, but legal.

Sorry, I am off, lol. My meds seem to work better when I can't eat. Pancreatitus.
That is besides the point.

There would be so much drug use that there would be so many more drug addicts.

Cheap and legal, there would be so many people using and being useless.

People, would get addicted so easily and have such high( no pun intended) tolerances and there would be chaos, and so many people who would be useless.

Look at how much trouble booze causes.

The West a ould collapse. There would be a worse epidemic than what happened to Portland. They rescinded that failed legalization because of the trouble it caused.

But, full legalization of all drugs would be worse and there would be a nightmare that couldn't be fixed.

Everywhere people would be addicted at levels never seen before.

Who is going to do anything once they are so addicted? So many addicted and all sectors of society would collapse.

I think the current laws suck, but legalization would make addiction such a nightmare.

Some think things are bad now; that is nothing compared to what legalization would cause.

A huge shortage of working people and no tax base and fewer who would pay taxes, work or do anything but get high and turn everyplace into a worse version of Portland at it's lowest point.

Every city would end up like that really shitty part of Vancouver. The whole western world would collapse.

I disagree on every point you raise… but you knew I would didn’t you ;)

See above for my take :)

Its all cool with the med -- I respectuflly disagree and do not think that many people want to do hard drugs. Myself being one -- I mean id switch back to a full agonist but I wouldnt jack my tolerance up as it would be stupid more than just financially.

It would be a bit rough at first, some darwinism would happen. I am good with that haha

As I said, no crack at gas stations. Crack at pharmacies ;)

Much like Smokey, I wouldn’t take any more or less drugs than I do now. Same goes for every stage of my life..

I honestly think you vastly overestimate how many people actually want to do drugs - especially hard drugs. The vast majority of people heed the drug education programs and Just Say No.

Would more people experiment? Sure. And most would quickly find that heroin really does screw you up and crack just brings on shadow people and extreme paranoia after a while.

In short, the novelty wears off and we’d end up in roughly the same situation we’re in now only with vastly more resources to deal with problematic use, essentially no drug it acquisative crime, and plenty of money leftover for more social programs.

Win win vs unwinnable is a no-brainer imo.

you are 2 people and crack at pharmacies? They would just get robbed all day everyday. Good for target practice though. Just kidding, unless it paid decently.

Just kidding. You people are delusional and you think that countless others aren't going to be drugged out, worthless zombies?

A whole country like Kensington. Wow, you must really hate civilization. LMAO
Why are you even on this site? All you ever do is antagonize everyone with your ignorance.

NOOB, I guess you never heard of diverse opinions. You have said nothing of any substance, NOOB.

Listen I know your mad because of the comments I made about how to hide your heroin use. Why do heroin users have no sense of humor? Seriously, why is that?

I mean that is not something you can sell to get more black tar, you want to hide from your roommate. In your post you referenced that person as he and also her.
Which is it.

I know a real way to hide the smell, but I am not going to enable people on a harm reduction site.

You have nothing to say but to attack me.lol

If having a different opinion is antagonizing; then you are being hypocrite.

I guess we all are antagonistic if we don't think like you and just attack people.

My ignorance, that is almost a joke. You have nothing to say. No debate, just attack.

Why are you here? Did you not figure out a way to hide the smell of smoking black tar heroin?
You sound like a child. Who starts out their little rant by saying “NOOB” twice in the same sentence? Why do I not argue with you? It’s pretty simple, you don’t listen to logic. Am I supposed to be hurt by that? Yes I use heroin. You trying to shame me for using drugs on Bluelight is hilarious.
