Lamictal 100mg 2x/day
Librium 5mg 2x/day
Nortriptyline 10mg 1x/day at night

These are the meds I take at night. Lamictal and Librium are twice a day so I take those in the morning also.

1. Anyone drink lightly on some of these meds?

2. Better to skip night dose and have a drink or take normally that night and have a drink?

3. If there is a specific med to skip vs not skip, which would those be?

I used to smoke weed and tobacco daily and had to stop so id love to be able to have a drink once in a while as I miss beer.

Hey there.

Firstly the drinking aside, you can't just drop a med here and there especially if this was prescribed for a certain mental illness or problem

Nr 1 is mostly prescribed for bipolar and is an anti seizure med so drinking on it aint im not sure.

The 2nd is a benzo so any drinking with benzo is bad as it easier for getting blackouts and getting drunk quicker then you think and then you do stupid Shit.

Benzos and alcohol is overall a no no even for long term vet user's.

And the 3rd is an anti depressant and there seems no real side with alcohol but also depends on the person

But like i said in the beginning, if this was Rx'd for a specific reason, take them as prescribed and honest will wait with any alcohol so you can see how your body react to these meds after they leveled out. Unless you have been on this already for a while.

Hi! Thanks so much for your response!

Ive been on them all for a while. Nothin new really.

Depends on how many beers you are looking to have. Like 4 pints of Guinness will probably be fine however a few bottles of colt 45 would cause blackout city likely. I have been on lamictal with clonazepam and also have been on amitriptyline another tricylic. With lamictal there is no interaction with alcohol. With benzos however you will black right out at the ritght dose. I have never had libruim but i believe its weaken then Valium . So 1 with a few pints will probably not be a big deal. Taking a tricyclic wth alcohol though can cause weird unpleasant blackouts and bad hangovers so ya skip that one altogether. And probably skip the librium to

Thank you for your response! I can probably skip all my night meds for a night.

If I did that it probably be ok? Nortripyline, Librium, Lexapro are the relevant ones at this point.

When you skipped your tricyclic or klonpin etc did it make you feel horrible the next day?

Just reading this, I was on lithium (I think 1200mg) and honestly please do not.

Lithium already requires lots of hydration. It really is not pleasant nor healthy to drink on lithium.

@marijuanaaddict7149 hopefully you had not had to figure this out the hard way but just in case you're still wondering. I mean 1 beer won't kill you but benzo really dangerous too, just something you probably don't want to get in the habit of doing on those (alcohol).

For the record, I am on lamictal now (400mg) and this one as others have said does not interact with alcohol to my knowledge/ experience

I would say, keep taking all of your medications as prescribed. Experiment with drinkin 1-2 drinks and see how you feel. Regardless, I think heavy drinking would likely be a bad choice considering the outlook of your treatment plan.
