Every once in a while, I take diazepam to help me sleep. It’s only about 3 times a year and I take 5mg but my supply is running out. I have zopiclone 7.5mg but I’ve never taken them mainly because I’ve heard so many horror stories about people doing crazy stuff on them but I’m thinking of trying them next time. I’m wondering how the effects compare. I was thinking of using half (3.5mg) instead of the 5mg diazepam. Would the effects be similar? Would the Zopiclone mean I wouldn’t wake no matter what (smoke alarm etc)? With the diazepam I do wake if anything out of the ordinary happens but it’s easy to get back to sleep.

Zopiclone is superior for sleep vs Diazepam ime. Ok a metallic after taste.
And 3.75 half a pill is stronger then 5 mg Diazepam. More like 20 mg.
Does that dose of Valium get you to sleep ?
Sound s a bit placebo, benzo naive i needed 20 mg to induce sleep. And that effect would persist well into the next day. Zopiclone was way cleaner. Noticed no residual sedation on that dose you are considering. Perfect dose !
Difference mainly the time of onset, halflive and Diazepam seem s more allround.
Muscle relaxation anti-anxiety a warm feeling. Not a really good sleep med though.
Fire alarms well being insomniac atm since about 6 year s. So hard to gauge.
But back then even without sedatives that would not wake me. Woke everyone else in the house. A ruder awakening was called for me. They needed me to dismantle that awful thing.
So if you sleep through a fire-alarm imo you have some sort of sleep disorder.
When you take a monster dose of sleep medication maybe,
A normal dose shouldn t imo these things are made to wake you.
Bit like the bullshit Benzo s preventing REM and dreaming. Not with me, they make dream s better ime. Turn lucid nightmares in pleasant dream s. Then again i dream every night despite smoking Cannabis. So maybe it s my personal chemistry ?

3,75mg being equal to 20mg diazepam sounds a bit high although it can vary from person to person, I would say a full 7,5mg zopiclone being equivalent to 10mg diazepam.
Most online conversion tables list 7,5mg zopiclone as being equivalent to 0,25 - 0,5mg alprazolam although that seems a bit low. I definetly feel 7,5mg zopiclone a tiny bit more than 0,5mg alpra

You'll be fine with 7.5mg. just take it and go bed. Problems tend to arise when people take it and then do other activities and get a bit lost...
I'd say 7.5mg equal 10mg diazepam give or take.
The smoke alarm will wake you up.
Just don't add booze into the mix.

Maybe, found it hard to give a real equipotent dose. Diazepam not a real good sleep aid. Ime, need s at least 20 mg with zero tolerance to put me out.
Zopiclone does the same better at 3.75 with no residual effect s lingering next day.
But they are not equal, was referring to the amount needed to put me to sleep.

10 mg Diazepam then again wouldn t put me to sleep non tolerant. I might feel something. 10 mg Diazepam seem s equal to about 20 mg Oxazepam or ~2 mg Lorazepam or 1 mg Alprazolam easy. I might sleep on these so it makes sense.
It would be easy to cut the 7.5mg Zopiclone in half but it would be more difficult to split the dose further. I could try though. The 5mg diazepam does send me to sleep but I’ll still wake up a few times during the night. I like the anti-anxiety effect of it so when I wake up I’m not stressed out about it.
It’s for big storms. I’m autistic and storms are sensory hell for me with the wind and noise so it’s either drug myself and sleep through it with earplugs, or work myself up into such a frenzy I’ll self-harm. Thankfully storms that severe only happen a few times each winter.
I was in a house fire years ago and the smoke alarm saved my life. That’s why I’m worried about being so sedated I won’t wake up.

Scary but you woke from it then. Slept through one that went of spontaneous.
Do a test if that is a option. See what happens when under influence !
They kicked and beat me awake, as i had to knock it of the ceiling. And the noise it made was extreme. No clue how it didn t wake me woke everyone else in the house.

Put it in a solution ? Volumetric dosing is precise especially using pharmaceutical s.
Just need to find what Zopiclone dissolves in best. Put the pill in a measured amount.
8 ml ? As example, so each 2 ml contains ~ 1.625 mg. I would swallow it so the metal taste might it present it self comes after you dozed off to LaLa Land. Sleep well.
I think I’ll just try the 3.75mg. I have a pill splitter so I could maybe shave a bit more off it. I’ve heard that Zopiclone tastes really disgusting and I think dissolving it in liquid might taste even worse.
I don’t drink alcohol and won’t be mixing it with anything else. I read some reviews on Erowid which is what made me worry about doing something crazy but I’ll be going straight to bed and won’t be trying to stay up.

You can always combine it with some melatonin if you feel like 3,75mg is almost enough and you need a little push but dont want to take a full 7,5mg.
Melatonin doesnt do much to me by itself but synergizes decently with other sedatives for sleep

Z-Drugs like Zolpidem (Ambien) and Benzodiazepines like Diazepam (Valium) are largely cross-tolerant, but not completely. Z-drugs are characterized typically by a shorter duration and a much more pronounced hypnotic effect relative to Benzodiazepines. Like @BadBoy377 said, the majority of the horror stories you have heard concern people not laying down and going to sleep after taking the medication or people who are otherwise not using it the way it's supposed to be used I.e. taking too much.
For an individual without a tolerance to this sort of stuff, I would see no reason why you couldn't just use Zolpidem instead of Diazepam to get to sleep. It should not be so powerful as to not allow you to wake up to a normal stimulus. For that matter, the short(er) acting nature of Zolpidem means it's really only gonna pack a major punch 2-3 hours after taking it. This is why they eventually started marketing a controlled-release variety.

I think Zopiclone lasts longer than Zolpidem, from what I’ve read at least. But that’s ok as long as I’ll still wake up if some household disaster happens. I don’t like the way diazepam tends to linger the next day, often for the whole day, so the Zopiclone might be better that way too if it wears off faster.

Zopiclone is an awesome sleep aid, trick is to take it and force yourself into bed quickly. Same with Ambien, although as stated Ambien is a bit shorter acting and waking up early and not being able to go back to sleep is a common complaint, to where Zopiclone is longer acting, keeping you asleep and allowing you to go back to sleep if awoken.
Also, 1500mg Soma is a wonderful experience that ends with a great nights sleep but quite fun for the few hours before sleep happens.
Avoid benzos. Such ugly w/d's - i use the above to aid in tapering and withdraw from Diazepam. I'm currently there, it's brutal having to taper and not be able to just stop cold turkey. But i've been there and that's so much worse and dangerous, I just gotta stick to my taper plan. Currently struggling with the drop from 30mg to 20mg, but getting there. I'm doing a pretty fast taper. Hopefully by next weekend I can drop to zero and hopefully be functioning enough to go to work, not relapse, I know I can. One moment at a time.
