I know nothing about American football apart from homer being disappointed about being gifted the denver broncos instead of dallas cowboys in the simpsons .they are made to look bad in the episode, are they?

I'm not too sure about their history, I know in the 70s they had a kickass team and right now they're in the playoffs with a good team. Cowboys, they were really good at some point but in the 21st century not so much.
It's probably more about how the cowboys are sort of a national favorite. I'm not sure why to tell ya tha truth.
