๐ŸŒŸ๐ŸŒŸ Social ๐ŸŒŸ๐ŸŒŸ Gibberings ver. CCXIX - "what's new, c*nty chops?"

I know what you mean. When I was there they were trying to pass the divorce law. Not abortion, DIVORCE. Until 1991 or 1992 divorce was illegal in Ireland to my disbelief, despite me comming from another catholic country,. At first I saw them like fanatics, it took me a while to realize that catholicism wasn't only a religion like in Italy or Spain, it was a political flag too. We are talking about The Troubles years
It was a very different Ireland than nowadays, back then an italian pizza place owner and me were the blackest guys in town, you almost didn't see foreigners out of Dublin
1996 or 1997 it was introduced, I was a teenager, just

I've said this before, but as a kid, my dad ran home because he'd seen a 'darkie'. His dad told him 'he'll be from the university '.

Yes, it's unbelievable that divorce was so long coming. And sectarianism is dying a slow death.
saw my first in-the-flesh black man aged 13, met some more around the same time, they were from a small nation in Africa

rural ireland was very white, still is tbf

I'm doing my bit to broaden and deepen the gene pool

my kids are a hybrid of Irish and Asian farming stock haha

Struggling to sleep. Filled with frustration.

How to find a central space when shores are shifting? Chasing ghosts is probably more trouble than itโ€™s worth.

I really wish for sleep. Hopefully it will come soon. Sooner than stress may slough anyhow.

Gโ€™night, kiddies โค๏ธ

Hope you got some sleep. Sounds like you need it.

With quetiapine, weed and some blues, sleep is no longer a worry for me, but it used to be a major worry. Insomnia is the worst.

This damn Flu gone to my lungs & chest so bad, I tried to smoke Crack & coughed till I vomited & each line of H makes me have a hacking dry cough too.
Had the most bizarre fever dreams last night.

I hope you've been able to score some decent H.

I would imagine that apart from the cough, lungs, and chest issues, that some good gear could kind of flood you with feelings of well being, and could possibly be just about the best flu remedy imaginable? (But obviously not advisable unless you're already using.) Or am I wrong about that?

I recall you saying that you generally don't shoot H, so I guess at times like this when smoking anything is going to feel awful, it's a shame it's not active orally, and with a massively high bio-availability.

Aye, pisses all over Benylin...
I can imagine.

I can also imagine the pharmacies, (apothecaries?) in the late 1800s, when you could legally buy preparations of Opium, Laudanum etc. It wouldn't have been a difficult decision to decide whether to get some of that, (maybe with some Coca Cola with actual cocaine for an energy boost too, because why not?) or whether to go for Lemsip or Benilyn (if they had anything similarly relatively lame back in the day...)

I don't really know about the history of drug use and drug problems back in those days, but even though such things were easily available, there doesn't seem to be much mention of it in any general histories, movies, or novels written or set in those times. As in there being an epidemic of problems due to these substances. (Not that I've read a lot of history or novels about those times, but I have seen a fair few movies and TV series set in that era, and can only recall one of them where the protagonist was addicted to Laudanum.)

Thomas deQuincey was your laudanum guy.

I also remember The North Water on BBC a few years ago. The first episode or 2 were amazing, I think it was the ship's Dr who had a Laudanum problem, IIRC.

Judging by the book reviews, it seems that the book may be better than the TV series was.

Actual bona fide laudanum would be class. I just enjoy the poor man's version with pods smashed up and soaked in whisky. Potency can vary but it's always good if you've got a couple of days to spare. The brew has a strange aftertaste. Almost like Parma Violets...

There was a fad for something called Kompot in Poland. There's a doc on it. All the users were getting poppy straw, heads n stalks. Boiling it up and then adding a bunch of chemicals you can buy over the counter in Poland. Or could buy it was a while back. They were injecting the end product. Getting mad addicted doing it a few more times then dying due to the side effects. This was way before Krokodil.

I'll see if I can find documentary. Sorry for spoiling the ending...

I did laudanum. Opium dissolved in brandy. Ended up with a paralysed right arm.

Kinda the opposite of what you want really. I'm assuming you didn't IV it.

So was it the laudanum's fault?

Is your arm ok now?

Heroin, brandy and opium. N your arm just stopped working?

Shit, man. Is it nerves or what? Can you get physio or fix it with one of they crazy peptides body builders like?
