Hello all.

Back in April this year I found somone with highly pure Cocaine it must be over 80%! Ever since I found him I've been taking it at least a few times every week for roughly 6 months it's that good a stuff. How on earth do I stop myself from taking it? I keep promising to myself "this is the last time" but it never happens. I've been taking Coke on and off for almost 20 years but I've never done it as much as I am now because the purity of it is making go back to it. Has anyone got any tips to help me stop taking it? Cheers guys.

What have you tried so far?

Obviously it's not a swing of a magic wand as you know, so usually where I start for myself is I ask myself, why is this an issue, why do I want to stop, and how will my life be better once I do.

These are questions I find helpful. Not to challenge myself / give myself a hard time, but to have an honest argument against what the drug is manipulating me into thinking.

Nice job, for even recognizing a problem.

Edit - I now realize my response didn't address the specifics of the situation. The following posts below do a better job helping address this specific situation.

If the only way to score from this guy is with a phone number, like you aren't living in the same block/don't just bump into him - then when you are feeling strong, delete his number and buy a new sim so he can't contact you.

Having a source for good quality drugs is dangerous. I know the feeling mate.

It might give you the few weeks of sobriety you need to push this phase into the past. Drugs like cocaine/meth will keep niggling at you after stopping quite harshly for a good week or two with this kind of usage you mention. Past that it gets a lot easier.

Good job for recognizing it's a problem.

It might sound cliché, but the truth is this: beating any addiction starts with changing your habits and your lifestyle. When that urge hits, as hard as this is ~ pause and ask yourself what you’re usually doing in that moment. Whatever that routine is, that’s the space you’ve got to fill with something healthier.
A lot of people find that physical activity helps ~ not because it magically fixes everything, but because it gives both your mind and body something else to work toward. Set small goals. Hit them. Let your brain chase that sense of accomplishment instead of the high.
And honestly? One of the biggest steps is distancing yourself from the people tied to that world. Who are you using with? Who gave you that number? Who do you hang out with when you slip? Those folks might have fit into a certain chapter of your life, but that chapter is over. Like that old saying: “People come into your life for a reason, a season, or a lifetime.” (I know, stitch that bitch on a pillow!) Well… that season’s done. Time to draft a new team ~ people who actually want to see you healthy, strong, and moving forward.
Delete the number. Block it. Toss the phone if you have to. Whatever makes it harder to slide back.
Most importantly: you can do this. The fact that you see the problem and want better already shows strength. Now you just need to keep taking steps in the right direction ~ one choice at a time. You’re stronger than you think. Tackle this! We're rooting for you.

If you've never heard of NAC (N-acetylcysteine), you may want to start taking it. It helps rebalance dopamine after drug abuse, helps with cravings, and it also helps prevent relapse by blunting the euphoria if you use coke again.

One thing I have made in the past, was to seriously limit the amount of cash in my pocket, and leave bank cards at home.
Like if you will have a coffe during work, or a couple beers after, just carry that money.
Cocaine is a hell of a problem when you start using it more than you should.

Thanks for the replies. I did try and delete his number but I quickly found it on my call logs held by my network provider. It turns me into a sex crazed maniac because of it's high purity that's why I like it so much. I live with my mum in a house with no mortgage/rent to pay because it's owned out right by my mum and there's hardly any other bills to pay so I'm financially comfortable which means I have a lot of money which can be spent on Coke. The main reason why I want to stop is not because of the money but because of my future health, I'm scared in case it puts me into an early grave (I'm 39). Also I don't want my mum to catch me because if she did then she might kick me out and I could lose my inheritance which would be very disastrous for me!

I've got a rather expensive hobby building high-end gaming PCs, I could pour my money into that which could limit how much money I'll have for Coke, would that be a good idea?

ive also been doing coke more than i would like to. i stayed off it for a year, then did it again early this fall, then again at the end of october, and then 10 days later, and then today [5 days later]...diminishing breaks between and thinking about it more and more :(

Yeah I think about it way too often my self. It's hard isn't it. I don't like what it's doing to my heart and I'm getting increasingly paranoid over it!

Visualization. How do you ingest? Snort? Then make that straw the filthiest, nastiest, slimiest, stinkiest thing you've ever heard of. Make it so nasty, the last thing you'd ever want to do is touch it, much less put your face anywhere near it.

This is a very powerful method that, for some people, works instantly. I quit cigarettes using this method, instantly. My "nasty" is anything that comes from the nose. I'd visualize a gigantic loogy hanging off the filter of a cigarette, just before I'd go to light it, and I'd put the whole thing down in disgust.

Try it. It works!

New terapeutic treatment Is starting taking mirtazapine in high doses simultanously with 5-HT2C antagonist like agomelatine/vortioxetine/tramadol - this one is addictive too much but works if taken on as needed basis.
Bupropion and modafinil will definitely reduce cravings.
Mostly modafinil - today i read study where they used cocaine, metylphenidate and modafinil and results were that modafinil is quite good at binding to sites and parts of brain that cocaine need to produce effects.

Try indirectly dopaminergic antidepressants and also use instant solution - modafinil. It Is milder ofc but lasts so much longer.
Bupropion works too but it's only weak NDRi but combined with other antidepressant which antagonize 5-HT2C like vortioxetine, mirtazapine, agomelatine should help after 4-12 weeks to reduce cravings. And for emergency use instant solutions like modafinil or armodafinil.
Basicaly anything dopaminergic should help u, for example opioids but opioid addiction is as bad as cocaine addiction.
Try sport - release of endogenous opioids while taking ADs and waiting for them to fully work.

Hmm yeah it's good that it's not a financial but rather health thing really. I think when it's due to finances, then it's much more likely to come back when the money does. Health concerns are within you, and don't suddenly stop being a piece of why you quit in the first place.

If you're gonna delete the number you need to delete all ways of getting it back. Change passwords to your telco login with a scrambled mess you copy paste and then delete the pass. Make it so future you has no chance to get it back.

The other comments about supplements are definitely worth looking into bro.

If someone had a reasonable answer to your question,”how do you stop yourself from taking it?” We would be millionaires

Is it cheap too?

If not try this --- do half as much for a week and get mum a gift with the other half. Or if you have nothing to do in there a vidja game machine or a guitar or a hockey net stick and ball -- whatever you into.

I am going to sound like a typical old person here but "You should be putting that money in the bank for when mum isn't around!"

I am in a similar situation except all the money ran out so know that it comes from a place of experience not just cliche.

I understand that spirit of that - it reminds me of how sobriety is basically a long term investment. The returns won't be in-your-face like a hit of crack is, but they will compound and eventually the "highs" of just having a clear head that isn't hijacked by the compulsion to use will be almost constant, and the lows will be way less painful.

Oh, @evo4ever, it was you! I actually only read the question in the tittle and just made a post without noticing that the OP was you!
But now that I realize, it's a good thing: you are a seasoned one, you're far from naive and have gone throw much worse than this. You will fix this situation, we don't know yet how will you do it, but we indeed know that you will.

Yes -- cocaine users cannot tell methylphenidate from cocaine IV in a double blind .... I find that a little hard to believe and would like to look into that study closer though

Out of topic
Yes, man, coca is so good these days... it's purity is surprising and the bitch is everywhere.
The prizes for the user, at least here, haven't changed, but buying amounts is a lot cheaper now, also.
I don't know high level dealers at all, but as Southamericans speak Spanish, I can and do read many info from different sources and they blame two main reasons for the good cocaine invasion:
1- Covid. They didn't stop producing, but couldn't export, so a massive stock was created. A kilo in S Europe just before Covid ranged from 27- 29k to 33-35k (€) , and today it can be found for 20k and even less.
2- Perú. The place is now the first world's producing country. There is an absolutely remote area where the production has skyrocketed out of control. Peruvian govmt calls that place the Vraem (Valleys of Rivers Apurímac, Ene and Mantaro): 12. 000 feet high mountains, some of the deepest canyons in the world, it all coverd by a rainy, endless jungle with 200 feet tall trees.
In such an area operates the last remanent of the Sendero Luminoso (Shining Path), once a very powerful maoist guerrilla and today a ghost army of some five or six hundred armed people (men, women, kids) commanded by their leader, comrade José (do you remember Marlon Brandon's jungle army from Apocalypse now? Here we have the same thing but in real life, the real deal (reality is often wilder than fiction).
So, apparently, they got involved in the coca bussiness by providing security to the crops and the routes in key points of the Vraem, taxing narcos for their services. Each year the cultivated area grows and more product is obtained

Sorry for the late reply guys. Yeah it's getting cheaper too which doesn't help I suppose. I'm just happy Coke isn't physically addictive like Opioids. I've also got a Oxycodone dependance but that's legal as I've got a prescription. I'm just gonna have to remind myself that Coke is bad for my heart and if I continue to take it then I could land myself into an early grave lol. I've gone many years without taking it and I'm sure I can pull it off!
