At around 0.7-1.0 gram of GHB per millilitre of water (g/ml),
the solution becomes quite viscous, and may even begin to crystallise"

Never made it so thick but i knew how much went in.
Evian, GBL/ Gamma-Butyro-Lactone total amount of total ml.
GBL pure [food-grade] 1 ml. will equal 1.66 gr GHB.
So the dose equal to GHB in each ml. was known.

Add the right amount of HCl/ Hydrochloric-acid [100%/ food-grade].
Exothermic reaction. so go slow. Measure the PH after.
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Hydrochloric_acid
Just state it so you get residue HCl. is unwanted. To basic can melt skin,
and mucous membranes. 1 is basic/ 14 Acidic. Ph. Should be around 7/ neutral.
In the finished product The Ph. is easy checked with a Ph. paper/ strip.
[why wearing glove/ mask and goggles is not unnecessary effort]
When kept sealed there should not be any/ little evaporation.
How was it kept ? Over a 'couple of year s', What condition s ?
[frozen, seems preferred]. Didn t it get stale.
Don t no much about storing, made it as needed .
Its simple to do some random test s, without knowing what substance it is !
You know your friend, does he know GHB/ GBL ?
Access GBL is less of a problem in the end product, then HCl.

The three distinct species of lactone, free acid and anion may all coexist in an aqueous sample containing GHB.The relative concentration, or distribution, of these species is a function of solution pH and may be determinedfrom the equilibrium constants. At equilibrium, GHB exists predominantly as the anion under basic conditions(pH greater than 7), occurring as dissolved salts, commonly with sodium or potassium as the counter-ion.Under moderately acidic conditions (pH less than 4), the free acid and GammaButyro
Lactone predominate in aqueous solution in a proportion of approximately 30% GHB to 70% GBL. Most aqueous samples of GHB, though, fall in the intermediate region between pH 4 and 6 where a mixture of all three species occurs."

GBL properties and 1.4-BD a GHB mimic.
https://psychonautwiki.org/wiki/1,4-Butanediol
GBL solely is a lot like GHB [ime more habit forming].
Taste s like paint thinner, dilute it ! pure ingestion will burn your throat.
Seems a bit more dangerous, With 1.4-BD/ Butanediol i have no experience.
Just read part of the above, maybe the one typing got distracted:
"Physically, it is a hygroscopic colorless oily liquid with a barely noticeable characteristic odor. Unlike GHB, 1,4-Butanediol has a distinct taste, described as being repulsive, plastic-like and chemical."
The truth, GHB is odouless but tastes unpleasant salty.
GBL taste like nail polish remover or some sort of chemical solvent.
1.4-BD/ Butanediol i assume like wise, but sounded even more nasty to me.
