How do we navigate the cycles of withdrawal to make this worthwhile?

How is the scaling back process going for you?
Pretty good, I had cravings the last couple of days, especially when I went 2 days without sleep again, but I haven't taken any. The worst part is not being able to sleep or eat much, being hungry while you have no appetite is weird. I went from an average of 15-20 joints a day the last while to zero, smoke a lot of tobacco now, even worse than weed but I miss rolling and smoking too much. It does nothing, but when you smoke that much weed it really doesn't do anything either anymore. Yeah I guess it made me more tired and lazy, my eyes don't feel dehydrated and sleepy anymore. Oh and the dreams, uh, yeah, nightmarishly realistic if I get enough sleep.

I just remembered I have some CBD weed upstairs, might smoke some in a bit to see if it helps me sleep. I miss the taste of smoking weed so much, tobacco sucks when you're not drinking, it's so gross.

Sleep is a must. If taking l Theanine, starting eight hiurs before desired sleep time, 200 mgs, spaced out a couple or few times or a gaba drug

Cbd doesn’t taste good. It almost makes your mouth taste like an ashtray. For a short peroid

Thc taste pleasant, if it’s quality weed

It really doesn't lol, it's the first time I've even tried it in all these years, guess breeding out the hemp taste is nearly impossible. Similar to autoflowers, they've gone through so much in and outbreeding in a quick period of time, but I could still taste the ruderalis whenever I smoked it. No idea about the percentages anymore in this stuff I have, but there seemed to have been a small amount of thc in it as well, smoking had no noticeable effect, upon waking up it was hard to rub the sleep out of my eyes again though.

Personally I'm not touching anything that really affects gaba for a while anymore, I just quit longterm benzos and will go into wd's again if I take some, but it's a good idea for anyone who does have acute sleep troubles upon quitting weed. Substituting it with something you have no trouble stopping is smart anyways.

Working out to burn fat will also help clear the thc out of your system, seems like it's going to stick around for a while for me, 3 months give or take for chronic users.

A big problem of chronic cannabis consumption is downregulation of dopamine and the accompanying anhedonia or depression. There's not much that they've found that can help regulate the reuptake of dopamine again; buspirone is not on my list of things to try really, but B-vitamins and N-acetyl cysteine are things I still have lying around, couldn't hurt to try. Im on week 3 or 4 quitting weed after inhaling extracts into my face from morning to night. I was soo tired for soo long after it was insane. I still have super crazy dreams all the time and sometimes feel extra sleepy but its getting better. One thing I notice is my mental health is way way way better and I dont sweat profusely at work or during sex like I used it. Also my boners are better.
 
I haven't read through this thread, I'm responding to the OP.

Withdrawals only exist if you let your stash run dry. I don't think i've run out of flower since 2007...

And even then, you'll get sweaty and trembly and irritable. That's pretty much it. Realistically it's a molehill, but your choice if you want to make a mountain out of it.
 
I stopped a few days ago month ago, then slowly stated small and now seem to be back under its seduction spell, i dont like it

Today at doordashing after after assholes low ball, 3$ for 15 miles one way had five in a row , wasting time and money, having my acceptance rating decline , went from 93 to 87, had to wait in the phone ten mins to get half pay for an order that was already picked up I put some thc in the pipe and inhale a couple inhales

Then before gym same thing g

I went to Alabama where all smokable cannabis is illegal a didn’t smoke for four days and sweated a lot. Is sweating an effect from stoping consistent cannabis thc use ?
 
Two weeks ago I wouldn't have even thought of this as I was on autopilot mode, smoking two or three bowls, in a glass pipe, which a good amount can fit in there, per day, smoking higher potent three month old super silver haze during daytime , and master kush later on , or for more couch sitting, although i can take a walk outside or go in gym and do cardio on a high indica like masterkush, I seem to prefer walking outdoors more, anyways

I'm at one bowl a day now, and smoking twelve months old hybrids (i have probably two ounces of different strains, black runts, icc runtz) . I recently took a t break, three days ago, and that first day , smoking year old stuff, clearly has degraded, got me high, after maybe five inhales. The t break was forty eight hours, and I was surprised how "high" I got, as it clearly reset cb1 receptors. Yesterday after three days of smoking this , the high wasn't quite there or at baseline, so I had two choices, use a newer more potent strain , smoke more, or take a t break. I choose the latter, taking a tolerance , t-break, today.

I could take some decarbed cbd I have,tonight , as this would not effect the thc, cb1 receptor reset. May or may not, or could use gaba supplement 2-3 grams, which seems to relax me and help sleep. Wanted to post this as over the past four months , since i last took a 4-5 day t break, and in that time, use got more and more with less effect , as cb1 receptors built tolerance
 
I am not a savvy user of cannabis. I find strains that seem interesting and vape at home, away from other people. If the conditions are right, the effect will be a loosening of the grip between ego and its objects, and when it has loosened enough I can temporarily 'experience' egolessness. That's all I'll say about that. It is the best thing in my life; not even 'in' my life, it is a revelation of the unchanging background of what I call my life.

It only happens when there has not been a steady intake for a few days. So, the natural strategy might be to do it on a schedule. Four days in between sessions. Yet, this is not workable for me. My system expects cannabis after a day goes by, and when I don't use it, I become despondent, agitated, irritable, and all the rest. To ward these symptoms off, I usually end up using it more, which exacerbates the withdrawal.

I become trapped in a cycle that includes shame (nobody in my circle knows that I use cannabis) and feels like being pulled in multiple directions. Enough about my problems, though.

My question is: are there useful rules of thumb for tapering, scheduling, or other tips to navigate the withdrawal days? I can't use this every single day, nor do I want to. But I want to keep using it without feeling miserable when I stop. What can I do?
Yeah you’re basically stuck in the classic loop, use to feel good, stop and feel like trash, then use again, tbh what helped me was stretching the gaps slowly not jumping straight to 4 days, like 1 day break, then 2, then 3, also switch to lower THC stuff during the week so the crash isn’t that brutal.
 
What you all make out of this me personally never really noticed any thing from CBD. No increase and certainly no leveling of THC effects. Its beneficial smokes/ vapes fine.

But in theory this proposes CBD enhances the THC effects ?

CBD may help with being more social, if you go inside say a gym , CBD mixed with THC would help or CBD cannabis only. @Darksidesam is where I first heard the idea many years ago

. I have tried THC with CBD many times and CBD before going to the gym . Dorian Yates says cannabis is a good pre workout. I can not really say it has helped the social aspect bc I have smoked it before the gym bc I don't really want to talk to people and focus on my workout

There's been times I don't smoke it before bc say before or after a workout, esp after, or on not so serious days that take lots of focus, I don't smoke for the fact socially , and conversation seems to go easier, and better.

Recently, I haven't done it too much before gym, bc I'd rather save it after, ideally. Yesterday I woke and baked some sativa first thing upon awaking , then walking with two dogs I help out with walking them out in the country, feeding them, at a friend's house . Generally it's after work

I've said this many times in here but from my own experience , using an empathogen, mdma, 5 mapbs, I dont prefer the thc feeling while on them. I used to smoke weed on mdma every time just about from 2000-2001, thirty times, and it seems much more hazy, and shifts my perception on it, CBD doesn't it just relaxes me a bit

I haven't used mdma or any empathogen since Thanksgiving 2024. I prefer smoking CBD on the come up bc it transitions the come up more smoother, into the roll, in addition to not shifting the perception, or making it more hazy.

Explore it for yourself, to me thc on the come up, and during the roll , is something I noticed I seemed more removed verses with no THC more engaged .

Back to this it seems when I have took tolerance breaks, last three, Sleep seems to not be as good. Since the plan is to do more t breaks I'll keep notice if sleep being more disturbed seems to be a negative effect or not, of stopping thc cannabis

THC really enhances my focus to, at least feels like it does. But i been toking since ever. And taking ADHD medication with it now, work pretty well together. When not taking these focus cost s a lot more will power and creates more stress.

Doesn t seem to make me more or less social either, when very high people do notice the Cheech and Chong effect. By the intonation and my voice comes with a form of Scatter brain so not really productive socially. Never really experienced social anxiety. Sober or stoned. A few sober days a week would really be good for me, is so hard.

You control it quite good, i take my hat of for that.

Empathogen s, that s been a while last full blown experience was long ago [was it on 5-MAPB or a half-ass one on Ethylone] ? Last glowing exp. was on Methylone. THC definitely blurs & changes the experience. On Psilocybine Mushroom its even more profound. These don t mix at all ime. Unlike with a Lysergic same kinda 5-HT agonism.

Having a great trip then deciding time for a toke, and have the whole trip turn from great to dark and sinister. In the time it took for the THC to reach the receptors.

For a clean experience Leaving the Weed till at least in the aftermath seems the way to go.
 
I was going to suggest using CBD as well also I would avoid mixing with nicotine also one thing to keep in mind is and someone correct me if I’m wrong is that Cannabis and methamphetamine have the most difficult post accuse withdrawal syndrome (PAWS) effects.
