I am trying to choose my words more carefully (always) - More so in real life. I have been for years.
Ex "It's True" Context - For a long time there was often more than one person talking to me at once - to the point it became impossible (Or at times unbearable) to hang with one persons thread. Despite not hearing much when there was a pause "It's True" with sincerity was my go to phrase. Reasons 1) Unless the person was lying to my face it is agreeing and moving things forward. 2) Sometimes you would catch somebody when you respond its true with a look of bewilderment. (First assumption - phrase didn't fit context, if that isn't it; Are they just amazed I believed them? --- more just a barometer to keep things moving along. I did have a clever friend once who slipped Somethin in that was way wild, remember when you sold 50 bricks to escobar "Its true" --- Man you ain't even listening ---- Alright you got my full attention. Haha I am a hermit in the woods now so this tactic is no longer employed.
I haven't used this one yet but I plan to. When someone offers help that you will accept but kind of preferred if they didn't and certainly don't wanna validate with a thank you. "Don't strain yourself"
What cold and calculated turns of phrase ya'll ma'fuckers use?------------- lol almost typed term of phrase (context gets me Alot)
