Whatsup nerds, the jocks are back in town and it's time to break some balls and shoot some bricks!

First game of the 25-26 season will be Oct 21st between OKC v HOU.

Also, I've been wanting to do a test run for the fantasy sports platform Sleeper for future use as a long term football league, and I thought a basketball league would be a good way to taste the waters and see if it will make a good long term home for future fantasy endeavors.

Anyone have any interest in doing a basketball league with me? I can make it and drop an invite to you. I would like to do a small bet to prevent us from checking out halfway through, and it'd be nice to get a few people. I will probably add some personal friends, the more the merrier really we can make giant, very customizable leagues with this platform.

Here's the bet: If the Wizards have a losing season I will take your trash out, twice, and do your dishes, once. But if they do better than .500 W-L, you give me your house.

Awesome. My coworker sounds like he is down for it as well. I'm definitely going to do a little bit more research into it, since I've only done it a couple times, but I'll drop the invite here when I set it up.




It looks like these are the options, so maybe just brackets. I'm not sure what, if any, options there are for college bball like a standard fantasy league though
 
The Clippers are being accused of evading the salary cap to pay Kawhi Leonard beyond the rate that the league set apparently:

"So what does this mean? Essentially, salary cap circumvention is when a team uses a third party to pay a player more than he is contractually owed or legally allowed to earn under the terms of salary cap. The simplest way to do this would be through an endorsement contract with a company that the team or owner is in some way involved in.

It is exceedingly rare that a team is actually proven to have circumvented the salary cap. However, there are a number of scenarios that the rules are meant to protect against. The most obvious would be a superstar attempting to earn more than his league-mandated maximum salary, but there are others. One example of cap circumvention could be a team signing a player to a below-market contract as a free agent with the understanding that they will later pay that player more when they have accumulated the requisite Bird Rights to do so. Another would be paying a player who is underpaid and ineligible for a contract extension under league rules. These rules exist to prevent teams from attempting to gain a competitive advantage by paying players more than the salary cap allows.

Leonard, who originally signed with the Clippers in the summer of 2019, signed a three-year contract extension worth nearly $150 million in 2024."

Yeah, probably just March madness shit
 
Ok the season snuck up on me a bit, thought it was the end of october but the first game is next Thursday. but I went ahead and made the fantasy league.

It's casual, just however many teams we can get I'll set it for if anyone wants to play. I'm trying out the Sleeper platform, I like the app so far it seems intuitive and promising

I'm just gonna nix it. Don't think there's enough interest to be worth messing with and I let it get too close to season start before creating the league
 
It was kinda fun the year we did it when mys was here. But yeah, hard to drum up enough interest these days.
 
I'm trippin lol it's actually just the preseason that starts next week.

But yeah I'm still gonna try and just join a random league to play, as opposed to making one from scratch.
