I might go and pick some, hood up and mask on (I've got relatives in the houses next to the fields) and brew some up and see how it goes alone.
I think someone might be more inclined to phone the police if you hoody
and mask up.. I guess it depends where you live, and if the police have higher priorities if anyone does phone them..
But you'd probably be better off without a mask, and if you get there at sunrise, most people are either going to be still asleep, or busy getting ready for work, or in rush traveling to work, (too busy to phone the police) to have time to notice some guy walking through the fields, in an unusual manner.
(Head down, and then stooping every so often to pluck something out of the ground.)
I don't think everyone knows about liberty caps, so even if you're seen you might not be suspected of anything. Or, if the fields are well known locally for having liberty caps, then most people will know what you're up to. It would take some kind of anal jobsworth to phone the police on you though, but it could happen. I'd try to get in and out as quickly as possible.
Back in the day there were no restrictions on picking, and your worst concern was being seen by someone you knew.
