Addiction 12 step meetings

Excited Schitts Creek GIF by CBC
I wish my name was Moira … 😅

Pat Allen is like … Sue Johnason - the sex teacher. Remember her ??

I managed to find a pic of her

I’ve been looking too .. off and on for years lol

Cool her daughter is carrying on her legacy
I remember reading that now.

I think I was more interested in wanting to hear another speaker talk by her and glazed over everything else.

I came across another video on YT about her clients… took me a bit to find though

To start going to NA or AA or not?
I'm  not a 12-Step enthusiast, but AA & NA were both tremendously helpful to me -- especially in early recovery. I preferred AA because there was usually more maturity in those rooms. I still hit a meeting now&then for a little recovery booster shot.

Shop around. Not all groups are the same, and even the same meetings can vary considerably from day to day.

I really valued the camaraderie and the stories of what worked and what didn't work. And don't dismiss the cliché slogans. Sometimes a saying wasn't meaningful to me until I'd heard it for the thousandth time.

Chatting with others before & after meetings is great too. Recovering people are some of the kindest & most interesting folks I've ever met. Lots of funny stories, too!

There will always be a couple of bullshitters and persons with questionable motives. Ignore them. As the oldtimers say: "take what you need and leave the rest."

Best wishes 💜

I used to be so fucking angry at those “motherfucking cocksucking horse shit fucking cliché sayings” - that’s a direct quote from me lol

I learned to find the beauty and the true meaning behind them. Once I did, I used to chuckle every time I’d hear a ‘normie’ say one - or something similar. Still do.

Fact.

I am and I’m not at the same time? But I think “I am” overpowers “I’m not”.

Maybe I consider myself not to be a ‘good candidate’ anymore due to me not believing everyone MUST be totally sober from ALL mind altering substances to be ‘fully accepted’ by the majority.

But I do have a genuine desire to not drink.
So.. ✅ (AA)
I also have a genuine desire not to do cocaine. ✅ (CA)
I have a genuine desire not to do narcotics (for real.. are mushrooms and psychedelics considered narcotics??) - 💧✅ (NA)

Of course, I wouldn’t have to divulge my mushrooms use with anyone. I don’t have to do anything. But is it the ‘right’ thing to do??

I also don’t believe in black and white. So.. maybe I’ll pray on it. See what the Universe tells me.

Fun Fact: Bill Wilson was the original 13-Stepper. Early members had to keep the vulnerable young ladies away from him.
I shouldn’t be laughing at this but I won’t apologize for my dark fucked up humour.
It’s how I survive dammit 😬

women being ‘possessions’ to be used for sexual pleasure because only men enjoyed sex was still an acceptable view point back then
