Can anyone recommend a good scale that is actually a milligram scale? I already have one of those standard $25 scales. It claims it can weigh down to 10mg with +/- 3mg variance... but, no, lol. This thing really struggles to weigh anything below 30mg at all. I can straight up throw 10mg down on it below 30mg and it won't even register it...I do not trust it's accuracy. (Yes, I have and routinely calibrate it). It's just no goo below 30mg. It can measure just fine at 50mg+ seemingly quite accurate.

Searching for one on amazon is surprisingly frustrating. There are a million $20-30 scales that all claim to be accurate to 0.001g, but they probably aren't. They're probably just like the one I already have.

Anyways, does anyone have any recommendations for a scale that can accurately weigh down to between 5-10 milligrams?

I'm willing to spend $50-100. Can you get a scale that accurate for that price? I'm guessing it would be a couple hundred bucks for a scale that can actually weigh down to 1mg.

lemme find the one i got off amz or eby and update this

updated with link.
been trusty for a couple years. i test it against the old one occasionally and it checks out.

i also turn on the scale, put a business card on it, put whatever i use as a depositor, add powder or whatever. i just feel that the added weight helps somewhat with accuracy overall. ymmv

of course one has to do the math or have a calculator handy. ;)

If i pop the tray on and hit the tare button it takes ages for it to register any amount of powder I can have nearly 20mg on there before it ticks, but when i put the tray on without using the tare button it generally catches the first 5 milligrams. That's a dirt cheap one off amazon but I've been using it for a few years and have a good feel for it.

Most folks I've seen seem to say the gemini is the best one you can get below 100 and beyond that you're looking at lab scales which are a whole lot more.

I bought an America Scale for $30 bucks or less…..like 10-15 years ago. Very accurate and works as the day I got it….it has grams, ounces, grains, etc, etc

I put it on grains and weighed several projectiles (bullets) and it was 100% accurate

9mm - 115 grain full metal jacket…..weighed in at 115 grains
.45 ACP - 230 grain jacketed hollow point …..weighed in at 230 grains
5 other slugs and all weighed exactly on point

Tip….if u weigh small amount of powder, say 5mg….you weigh an empty jel cap 0.093…then add a micro scoop of said powder 5mg into empty jel cap and it should weigh in at 0.098

I have two micro scoops…..a 1-3mg small one….and a 10mg scoop….and an accurate skee for general use. It comes with a 10gram steel weight for calibration, and it always weighs in at 10.007 - 10.009. Also have Pharma scale paper that is slightly waxy that no substance will stick to…..slides right off

That's my old scale
tare button
Never use it myself. I find that the extra weight from the card and foil (mostly) helps register smaller amounts. I don't trust any scale right out the box. Kinda OCD with the checking and rechecking tbh very rigorous id say. 😅
Pharma scale paper that is slightly waxy that no substance will stick to
Definitely gonna look for this as the foil is good (on the waxy side) but can be a pain sometimes.

Yes, Gemini I believe, in small blue box, scale with plastic cover to protect delicate stainless steel plate, and accessories
