UK's new internet laws, are we going to lose our anonymity, and become as heavily censored and monitored as China, North Korea, Russia etc?

even if you delete cookies your fingerprint is still there because of frameworks that are used when you install any os.

even so, remember, antiviruses engines always scan the web for how you interact and they can find you by not scrolling the page all way down or up or at certain position.

and is not software but at demands of carrier services that want to see who you're and it might sound off but is a reality.

is a smart decision to use a dedicated nic to get a vitro perspective and see for yourself.

I've never had to provide ID to go anywhere on the internet. It's not as if people can't just use a VPN so in fact, it's more a case of being seen to do something, I suspect.

As for BL, well I suggest prefusing accesss to HR information would make an intereting test case. Because whater BL may be, HR lies at the heart of it.

As I said - this all happened DECADES ago and I didn't hear too many people shouting about privacy issues.

Fire wall, Add-blocker, virus-Scanner and the rest, that i don t know.

Use VPN, and ditch anything related to Gmail, as they proved themselves.
Untrustworthy, So that includes the search-engine Google, Face book and so on.
They exchange your private info. Unasked !

And i am guessing sold my email address and old phone nr too.

I just meant that if we have to have this stupid nonsensical Act, then at least it would make at least some degree of sense for it to be applied to households with children.

But absolutely the government have completely overstepped their boundaries. Not just that, but they are obviously completely out of their depth, not forseeing that the American internet giants wont comply, and if they all go the way of 4chan they are basically just laughing at Ofcom trying to fine them, and also how easy it is for UK users bypass the measures.

It's not just this, but Starmer's party are making multiple appallingly bad policy decisions, one after the other, in very quick succession. What about the 500 mostly pensioners being arrested for their peaceful protest supporting what the government have decided is a terrorist organisation, because they sprayed paint on an Israeli war plane. Arestees included a blind man in a wheel chair. I can't see this government lasting long. I certainly hope not.

Raising the pension age once again, so for generation X, it has now increased 3 times, and by 3 years, in the last 10 years. From 65 to 68. With many people having just over 10 years notice to adjust to that bombshell and to plan things out.

Further extensive tax rises are expected in the Autum budget.

I didn't think they could be any worse than the Tories, but they already clearly are. I think they are going to be the most hated government in my lifetime, even more so than Thatcher and her poll tax, and her decimation of industry and the North.

So certain clearnet websites are already anticipating getting deleted, presumably as part of the OSA, or some other measures.

Some are now providing links to their outlets based on other platforms. I guess this is going to be the future.

I'm not even going to name the other platforms atm, but Christ there's going to be a learning curve.

One of them was confusing the fuck out of me initially, but I think I'm getting it now.

The worrying thing is that the one genuine operation is surrounded by about a dozen extremely similarly named contacts. It would be so easy to start using one of the wrong ones, which are presumably nothing but opportunist scammers.

We all know that this is a battle that the government and police are never going to win. Some websites are already several steps ahead. If any clearnet vendors do get shutdown, then they will just move to other platforms.

I think many have already been on these newer platforms for a while, but I've not used them yet. I mean, I know how to navigate the clearnet, and how to look out for scams, but it seems that any of us that have yet to get to grips with the newer platforms will have some challenges to overcome.

Yeah, it's been one of the first discussion forums to be targeted. Users are having to pass age verification to access certain topics. Or use a VPN.

The govt is creating "categories" of websites, and going after the biggest ones first, in terms of their visitor numbers. They are being called "category one" IIRC.

I guess any really obscure websites and forums that have like 10 members or visitors will get away with it.

Sites like Bluelight that generally hover around 20 signed in members, and 1,000-2,000 visitors or lurkers surely must be pretty low down the pecking order of categories for enforcement.

I mean compared to the numbers that the likes of Reddit, youtube etc have.

Dunno if the nature of the content could change things though.

Bad times for sure though. I mean, I can see some reason and logic behind the whole thing, I just think the way they are going about things is very naive and misguided, and their attempts at enforcing it are totally wrong and stupid. The UK just can't fine huge foreign internet giants and expect them to play along. They don't seem to have any legal powers to enforce such things for starters. They are also risking alienating and estranging America as a powerful ally with all of this.

The response of 4Chan sums it all up I think. Basically saying "fuck off you twats! You have no authority over us."

The only response the UK has to that is to threaten to totally block 4chan in the UK if they refuse to comply. I suspect 4chan wont give 2shits if it loses the UK market, or the segment of the UK that doesnt use VPNs.

Is the UK going to block Reddit, youtube, Instagram, Facebook, etc etc if they also refuse to play along?

The whole thing is absurd and foolish.

When RCs were legal, mostly what you got is what you paid for.

But now dubious Chinese labs are prepared to make whatever vendors ask for. The problem is, the vendors are not medicinal chemists.

It should be up to parents to act as guardians as appose to a government who only cares about the present and immediate future of themselves and there cronies. It's part of growing up to experiment and push boundaries.how many top UK politicians have admitted to trying class a drugs and smoking cannibas at university it never stopped them from grabbing the reigns of power at the very top level of world politics. They probably weren't even teenagers ,fully grown adults .if they did say they were teenagers for PR they were lying, which of course is second nature to someone with that much inner drive to reach the top .
 
I just want to say that those apps such as Kaspersky Safe Kids aren't 100% fully against porn or low dim so to say forums around the web, which despite being a russian cybertech srl that's ok to use because it doesnt have ties with Russian Gov is the only inventor to first block a governamental virus implemented into Windows where people such as parents or kids with alongside website managmenting app think is a shielded recreational space couldn't think that first hand to deal with was Microsoft.

I gotta eat but let me write this on fast forward.

I got two grown kids, never had to use because age and am more open-minded and even had my kids vaccinated for HPV.

but as a parent I simply say that all you gotta do is install a metered connection on the app if you insist on medium-heavy restriction.

I also tested with me for me just to glaze, K Safe Kids(SF) and I got around in about huge 7%

Apart from within you tube no one else seems to give a shit. No on is taking to the streets, not much mention on other social media platforms.

Maybe it's because this first step is rather lame and ineffectual, has no substance or teeth, and already VPN downloads have shot up massively since this was introduced, particularly amongst the under 18s, so that they can continue to access adult content.

I wouldn't like to speculate about where this could end up. But surely as a country we won't all just roll over and accept a fate similar to that endured by the citizens of China, North Korea, or Russia!?

Why are we even suddenly potentially being forced to take steps to align our internet use with such authoritarian and draconian countries?

I know it's all being done under the guise of "child protection", but no one seems to believe that for one moment.

If only if, ISP has a law in your country where piracy is illegal then that's the only time a VPN is 100% a valid option. Why? When someone peer to peer it creates a unbounded connection that goes through a crypted certificate that ISP can't detect in most cases and therefore your now, VPN can interact with it and create a temporary loop of data not added to their stats(idle) and why is easy... even then to see you if they want, and that's it. So simply layman terms, a VPN makes it seem like the user is AFK.

It will never hide your fuckin face, hence why hackers are against private browsers and such things striked at a targeted vulnerable audience.
