Misc Passionflower?

so, according to this study passionflower's effect comes from increasing GABAergic neuron activity as well as increasing melatonin, and to a much lesser extent serotonin, in the brain. So it's basically like a better version of melatonin pills.

it does have some calming effect but did not help me sleep last night, the withdrawals overpower it

I want to sleep so damn badly >_< only got 1 hour again last night
Sorry to bring this thread back from the dead, but I cant for the life of me get dosing info on passionflower extract. Im on day 6 of fent WD and I have passionflower caps equivalent to 4:1 extract, delivering 375mg. Ive been taking one am and pm, but since its just an herb, id like to push the dose if possible, mainly before bed. What doses did you settle at?

I’m not an expert but I usually throw about a gram of passionflower extract into my kratom toss and wash at night. It doesn’t do a whole lot except being mildly sedating. I also throw in some corydalis extract and magnolia bark extract. If it was cheaper, I’d also add blue lotus extract. Good luck with your withdrawal. Look into memantine. It helped me with kratom withdrawals.

Thanks for the quick reply dude. Millions of articles on passionflower not ONE mentions a dose for opiate withdrawal. Or at least a dose in cap form. Thanks!

Anyone have any experience with passionflower for opioid withdrawal or simply general anxiety/sleep purposes?

It seems promising, a lot of people on reddit are claiming it helps quite a bit for withdrawal.

Just curious if anyone has any experience with it. Definitely not trying to get high here, just looking for relief and sleep.

Studies show it's a lot more promising and active compared to crap like valerian.
It s a GABA-t inhibitor, but has a whole spectrum off effects.
Ime it better then crap Valerian, but a cold water/ Ethanol extract.
Containing Valerenic Acid, did work, found my 2-nd bottle, 70 % discount.

Not tried yet, but the last one the first effective Valerian i had.
Don t give up, a combo Lemon Balm/ Passion Flower and a good Valerian extract.
Synergize nice, not a Benzo but it aid s. Btw there is Melatonin in my Valerian,
i just read.

paper later -- Gabba, Add the --- not bad getting an a and b rhymescheme in a succinct sentence. Time to go smoke ice with Ice Cube than ice' an I.C.E Crew

Hey, its a bit off topic but since someone mentioned it already, I want to give a heavy recommendation for Corydalis or THP (its main active chemical). Its very good for opioid withdrawal for an herb. Still probably wont be able to put you to sleep till day 3 though, if your like me. If you use opioids for pain its also a really good painkiller to use in lieu of dope to keep your tolerance down, I believe thats part of how its used in china. Good luck.

I have a horrible (rebound?) reaction to Valerian and lemon balm is very potent but I can only have it in the afternoon or it messes with sleep.

Passion flower, though, I take extract at night and it gives me good night's sleep but there's some brain fog on waking.

Your body is sensitive obviously, mine deep down.
But just as sensible, as your just not to substance s, sadly.

i think bodies are more sensitive than peolpe realize and that's why so many are abusing benzos just to sleep and rising cancer rates from bodies just losing the internal war because there's so much inflammation and health debt accrued that has been ignored and plastered over with pharma bandaids

Yes, Passion Flower is the only natural product that has the same MOA as benzodiazepines do…..they are GABA-A PAM’s / Agonist, same as Valium, Xanax, Ativan, etc

Passion Flower is easily the most potent / effective natural anxiolytic/sedative you can find……always get tincture in glass bottle. I’ll take 3-4 of these natural anxiolytic sedatives together in same glass.

Passion Flower (anxiolytic/sedative)
Valerian (sedative)
Damiana (cannabis like)
Hopps (sedative)
Lemon Balm
Kava Kava
California Poppy
…..few others

Do you find a potentiating effect when combing these? A “1+1=3” type situation, so to say?

Yes, most definitely…..a proper dose of each compound combined make a decent benzodiazepine like effect. The most effective compound being Passion Flower

Next option would be Clonidine 0.1mg tablets…..not a controlled substance any doc will prescribe. A very potent rapid acting anxiolytic & sedative

Phenibut also, can be ordered online, very effective anxiolytic with significant mood-boosting properties

Etizolam and other RC Benzo’s lastly…..or Pharma Benzo’s

Magnolia bark extract is also very benzo-like.
I do the same thing, and take several plant extracts together. Usually valerian, magnolia bark and passionflower extract, sometimes with kava, blue lotus, corydalis, chamomile, wild lettuce extract, and/or leonotus (leonurine is also a weak GABA agonist). Leonotus spp. grows everywhere where I live as an ornamental.
Lots of good plants out there if you look around….

Hey there, fellow seeker of natural remedies. I've dabbled a bit with passionflower, and I must say, it's got some potential. I've heard from a few folks on the forums that it can be a decent help for opioid withdrawal, especially for those pesky anxiety and sleep issues. It's not a magic bullet, mind you, but it can take the edge off.

I've tried it myself a couple of times when I was going through a rough patch. It helped me relax and get some much-needed shut-eye. The best part? It's not like those overhyped, underperforming herbs out there. Passionflower actually has some science behind it, which is always a plus in my book.

Just remember, everyone's body is different, so what works for one person might not work for another. Start with a small dose and see how it goes. And hey, if you do decide to give it a shot, let me know how it goes. I'm always curious to hear about others' experiences with these natural remedies.

Good luck, and here's to finding some much-needed relief and rest!
Ive been using Passionflower + Magnolia Bark + Theanine + Magnesium from WD through the Initial PAWS phase... it definitely help with anxiety and is calming. Not enough to make me sleep though. Then again even a sleep med struggles at this phase. Id imagine for a normal person (non addict) they would perform well.

I tried a 200x Passion flower Extrakt 2 times. It felt slightly sedating and somewhat serotonergic. It was okay but nothing to Write Home about.

And what is the net effect?

Hi, oh I didn’t go into details? Usually always do…..

Passion Flower has same MOA as Diazepam (Valium) and other benzodiazepine anxiolytic compounds. It acts as a GABA-A receptor Agonists/PAM having decent anti anxiety relaxant properties. Only Passion Flower has this MOA

Valerian is a decent sedative and good for sleep, as the other as mild relaxants good for calming and relaxing

All these compounds in a small shot with OJ to mask the wild taste of tinctures in 30min on empty stomach you’re relaxed and chill, potent anxiolytic properties

I often add Lemon Balm which is an amazing mood-boosting herb 🌿 almost making you euphoric happy, uppiddy, talkative, social, in addition to relaxation

Either natural tea bags (2 tea bags of lemon balm and 2 passion flower) is amazing

These are the best natural supplements before entering into….

Gabapentin/Pregabalin & Phenibut
Benzodiazepine like Valium, Xanax, Ativan etc which are habit forming and cause dependence & withdrawals with regular usage

These safe tea or tincture at health food store are safe & effective. I add several compounds to make it more potent as I am a tolerant 6’ 240lbs male

Or ya, easily. Mainly why I do it….as noted on my reply above

Oh sh!T I already replied to ur comment lol. My bad. Someone just asked me something and I was reading posted not aware I did
